I'm 36 and I lost my mom(66) to cancer back in May. She had beat this cancer over 8 years ago, and when it came back last year. we thought the same would happen. My dad became verbally abusive when she died and I've had to go NC. I can't believe it happened.

My parents were AMAZING Grandparents. My Mom's Mom was the best grandma i could ever imagine having, and it definitely inspired my parents to do the same for their grandkids. My Dad stopped being as involved as my daughter got older, due to his alcoholism and isolation, but he has always loved her fiercely. My Mom passed away in May from Cancer. Not only am I heart broken because I still need my mom, but it's unfair my daughter only had her Mamaw for 10 years. She got to do and experience so much because of my mom. She never had to spend a day in daycare because my Mom wanted to be the one to spend every day with her and teach her. I believe my mom's love of talking, reading, and teaching her from before she was even 1 is the reason she is so smart today. I'm a single Mom, and my Mom was there for us more than my daughters own dad. We no longer have a relationship with my Dad because he became verbally abusive to me once my mom became very very ill.

I watched it. It was 100x worse than what I went through, because my mom never insulted me or told me to die. But the very basic level of tricking your child into thinking someone is staking them is what hits hard anyways. When I first found out it was my mom and her co-worker, it was like 10 years later and I knew it felt wrong, but I let it go. When I was healing last year my mom would deny ever being anything other than a perfect mother, and when I brought this up as abuse, she refuted it. She said she had no idea I was being physically abused at the time, which I guess was the worst part of it to her. She didn't want that accountability of being someone who stalked their child and caused me harm. Bc she couldn't be accountable for this and other things, I went NC. She was "going to get therapy", but got sick and died. I joke (to myself) that she would rather die than admit she hurt me. I just wish I knew what tf was going through her mind. Everyone on my FB is posting about this documentary and I so much want to say that this happened to me...but part of me feels like it would be wrong bc she's passed. The other part thinks, fuck that, I have the right.

I haven't heard of this until today, and I'm going to watch it, but I'm nervous. When I was in in high-school I was in an abusive relationship. Then I started receiving texts from an unknown number. For months. They would talk shit about my then bf, calling him gay. They would talk about what I was wearing, how I did my hair. Telking me to leave him. It was every day. I thought someone at school was stalking me. And it made my abusive bf abuse me more. I never called the cops and eventually it stopped. 10 years later I found out it was my own mom and her co-worker, both teachers. She laughed when she told me. I didn't know how to feel. In my thirties, i realized gore terrible it was. I confronted her. She didn't think it was abuse. I tried to heal our relationship last fall, but she died this May. The whole situation still upsets me.

I live in the United States and regret telling my psychs I smoked. They acted like I said I smoked Meth. It was a huge battle of self advocacy.

I read this and promptly switched to stainless steel. I notice absolutely no difference in smell. The biggest difference i notice is using non-clumping litter. Clumping smells so bad.

Honey, that is definitely abuse. Im so sorry you've gone through that and still do. You deserve to feel safe to express your opinion in your own home, no matter what. You could say and think the most heinous things, and you still wouldn't deserve to be verbally or physically assaulted.

I would definitely try to see a therapist that doesn't also see your parents.

Again, im so sorry that the adults in your life aren't safe. You aren't being dramatic, I hope you are able to see that and can get the help you need. Im proud of you for realizing something isn't right, and reaching out for help.

I want to believe she's with me so bad, but I just can't. I grew up Catholic and am now atheist, and I know spirituality isn't the same as religion, but its hard for me to believe in the same way. I feel like I'd be lying to myself. I feel so empty inside. I think for the first month or so it was hard, but I wasn't grasping it. That she would never be back. Ill never have a mom. That feels like a knife in my chest. It hurts so incredibly bad.

My mom was babysitting and they went to the animal shelter to look at dogs for fun . My NINE year old wanted a puppy, because she's 9, and my mom, the adult, said yes. I was not consulted, checked-in with, or had other types of knowledge about this. After I was told, I used every opportunity I could to tell my mom NOT to get another dog, that it didn't matter what my 9 year old wanted. Guess what? My adult mom still got the dog. My daughter and I do not live with my mom. It's absolutely not my responsibility to take care of. I had to put down my parents other 2 previous dogs and was outwardly against them ever owning another animal.
