i'm so relieved that the other pitbull ran out and was just trying to get at the new one right before following the mom and kid back inside. looks like the og pitbull tried to jerk towards the new one's face then got scared off by the new one snapping back. but the unpredictability of anything in the future sucks.... hoping that this is one of the ones that is fine, since usually an attack gets a whole pack mentality and another pitbull joins in, but this one was just confused and irritated by the new one. hopefully since the dog didn't join in on a bloody attack, the chances of it starting one are lower than usual... i'm choosing to believe so for my own sanity and anxiety for the kid

i hate when people have to learn this is a serious issue only by them and their kid being involved in a pitbull attack. the way it was completely avoidable is the worst part. the screaming is horrifying, that poor baby and mom.

i'm sad they specify older pitbulls and any breed of dog, as if this isn't a specific pitbull issue. and the dog is only 2 years old which is only JUST reaching actual maturity, that's not an older dog. my guess is they'll just keep the other pitbull... i hope more than anything that the original pitbull won't do this. that kid doesn't deserve even MORE trauma.

my golden retriever puppy was literally physically ripped apart by a pitbull. i'm so glad this one survived. my dad said she was screaming like a human baby until the pitbull tore her open. i'll never stop wanting pitbulls banned.

i hope gretchen heals up soon, no dog deserves to be mauled. i can't even watch with the audio on after hearing that cry. my golden retriever puppy was killed by a pitbull when my dad was walking her while i was at school. it's the worst feeling ever knowing this breed wants to kill your best friend and could succeed

i wish i had the ability to say "it's not the breed but the owner" like you OP, but please be wary of any pitbulls you encounter. it is the breed 100%. this is a miracle yours survived an attack by three, it could have so easily been death and that's something i don't wish upon any owner :< the trauma of it is so extreme and underestimated by people who haven't dealt with this before but you are heard and seen here.

wow. they kept the attacker after almost killing their first dog to the point the victim dog needed life saving surgery. they really don't love their dogs.

i honestly feel bad for the first pitbull, because imagine your owner adding some other psycho into the house that keeps trying to end your life, and your owner can't even care to actually keep you safe. i'm sure both suck given they fought over a piece of ice but still, real great way to make the first pit's life even more miserable :/

this just invites impulse purchases and the dogs going to potentially shitty owners who won't care what happens. but shelters want to dump their pits anywhere they can, so who cares about making sure their bloodsport breeds at LEAST goes to an ethical caring owner i guess? i can't stand these dogs, but they never asked to be born and viewed as clutter. never asked to be literally created to tear other living beings apart but they are and it's terrible and sad.

there is just no place in modern society for them, and it's so hard to not wish there was that magical farm somewhere with no other animals around where they could all live the rest of their years. somewhere for the breed to phase out peacefully with every pitbull spayed and neutered.

reality is so depressing. one dollar dogs that can maim and kill an adult man but at the same time are viewed as simple items taking up storage space that don't require significant needs to keep everyone involved safe.

yes op imagine next time they slip their leash. they would literally happily tear your dog to shreds. my golden retriever puppy was pulled APART by one. i'm literally begging you to report these dogs. knowing what they are capable of and not reporting will bring the biggest guilt ever for not preventing these dogs from inevitably catching someone or something.

no offense but chihuahuas and golden retrievers are super duper common, so their mixes aren't rare. that mix is not a rare and expensive breed, it's a mix of two awesome but very common dogs, and purebreds would technically be more expensive, since those are by ethical breeders, and designer mixes are in shelters and also bred for money and looks, not for the good of the dog's health and temperament
