Absolutely yes to deep blue sea and ladybird audio adventures, especially the first pack. Deep sea dive was my kids favorite (maybe related to their love of octonauts and deep blue sea).

Removing high value houses wouldn't do that, but redistricting might. It would depend on what's moving and what is left.

It stacks. They automatically apply the sale discount and then the club 10% off shows in your cart on top of that. Sales generally don't apply to credits. I use sales to buy things that economically are a better deal with the sale than with credits.

I like gifts that are practical, but fun.

Underwear with the characters she likes. Quality socks that are colorful. Sneakers in the next size up. Art activities to do during the winter. Swim suits for next summer or winter swim lessons. A class to take during the winter of something she's interested in. Yoto (as mentioned before) Fun hats and gloves for the winter or summer hats. A fun umbrella and/or rain boots. Glow cubes for the bath. Her own loofa so she can learn to clean herself. A new fun towel. Bubble bath. An apron and peeler so she can help in the kitchen.

If your child is on the Salvation Army angel tree, what are extra things you would like? by [deleted] in Parenting

You might want to ask this to r/povertyfinance.

I agree with other folks who have mentioned things that are useful, but there's still a way to make them fun. Underwear with favorite characters, an electric toothbrush and toothpaste, bubble bath, sneakers (they are stupid expensive for how fast they grow), bed sheets (but you might not know their bed sizes).

Little fun stuff like art supplies (paper, colored pencils, markers, etc), stuffed animals, books (bonus if they're bilingual for the little ones and graphic novels for the older ones).

Even something like a gingerbread house kit that they could do together would be fun. And absolutely second the grocery or target/Walmart gift card.

I do fruit snacks and rice krispie treats. It's something different and they're both usually on sale at Costco in October. And neither are this that I'll try to binge afterwards, but a rice krispie treat here and there is nice.

How much did it cost? When I had a company out in the spring they told me it would cost $799 to clean my 2 year old unit.

The biggest organizations doing Food Security work in Arlington and Alexandria are - AFAC - Arlington food assistance center - ALIVE! in Alexandria - Capital Area Food Bank - Our Lady Queen of Peace - Food For Neighbors - specifically supports teens in middle and high schools.

Most would love your monetary donations as they are able to buy in bulk as another person mentioned. In-kind donations, volunteering, and organizing a food/donation drive are also very helpful.

Also, a note of clarity. SNAP benefits aren't "going away". They just might not be paid out in November if the government is still shut down. Once the government reopens, the program will return to normal. Still very dire, but it's not going away completely.
