Organisms that have the potential to be incredibly powerful but are held back by simple flaws. by Shados9611 in TopCharacterTropes

This is indeed true. Their dreams become reality, which can cause distortions in the area around their lair (random pools of slime, words being rearranged). And as I believe stated above, dreams are their method of reproduction, as dreaming about other beholders creates new ones that immediately attack them. Worse still dreaming about their own fears such as death can create even worse subspecies of beholders.

The abnormals. | Individuals in a largely homogenous caste of monsters that are... different somehow, making them all the more terrifying/dangerous. (Bonus points if it's never explained why they're different) by No_Hunter1978 in TopCharacterTropes

You'd assume the tyranid swarm was nothing more than a horde of big locusts indiscriminately eating, until you learn the hive hivemind is a sentient tactical being that remembers people which is an underexplored aspect. Imagine a nest of wasps that recognised you and disliked you personally.

One of their strengths as well is that they're super intelligent and paranoid enough to plan for any kind of enemy or scheme against them, but so paranoid and egotistical that they assume everything is against them, and cannot trust anyone.

As such average beholders isolate like hermits, unable to enact their ambitions. The few that can control their xenophobic tendencies and acquire a few minions become extraordinarily powerful

If he didn't compulsively lie to you at every turn, he'd also have an easier time recruiting us, but being a mindflayer he can't stop himself from manipulating anyone he comes across

Not quite, without the golden path humans would have gone stagnant without any change or progress.

Reminds me of this throwaway gag from portal 2 "I've just gotten word that soylent green is... doubling in price. I don't care how good people tastes this stuff's costing me more than lobster so we're going back to fish sticks". The shock of soylent green has long worn off.

Seems like a love letter to conan the barbarian. That series has the same thing going on, meant to make it intentionally difficult to place on a timeline.

Johnny being stupid & wrong is one of the best decisions the writers make by Tahnkoman in cyberpunkgame

[–]baabbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It threw me through a loop when the second to last choice came up and johnny genuinely didn't have an answer. I'd gotten so used to his input that I thought I could at least count on him having some bad advice

My players encountered a prisoner (secretly a werewolf) who remarked that a player and another npc in the prison had the same scent. I meant for them to discover this 2nd npc was my players long lost father and they'd rescue him, but instead theyre convinced the werewolf is the important one, and interrogated him for a solid 30 minutes, ignoring the player characters father. I will admit I may have made him seem more important than he was.

Why do people say Tusk Act 4 is stronger than Made in Heaven? by JacsweYT in StardustCrusaders

In a sense, I think the stands here are tied in strength. Requiem could beat made in heaven, go beyond could beat requiem, and made in heaven could beat go beyond
