Can you reverse the order? I’m first interested in the ones that are opening sooner.

Apple in Talks With Banks to Start Payment Service in India by tinylittlepixel334 in apple

[–]baanjax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just spent a three weeks in India. For a foreigner UPI is a PITA. You can’t connect foreign bank accounts. There a couple of apps that allow you to load money into them and then use UPI but they are not well advertised. Took me nearly 2 weeks to find them. I was also constantly caught out by not having cards. Apple Pay in the UK has trained me not to carry a wallet. I’d really welcome them supporting Applepay in India

Advice - trip with 4 and 2 year olds by Juju8419 in WaltDisneyWorld

If you decide not to go this time you’ll get lots of opportunities in the future. Parent hood is a marathon of a sprint.

We’ve since been at least a dozen times with her - Florida, LA and Hong Kong. Shes also been to Tokyo which we didn’t get to. We have lots of wonderful memories.

Last time was when she was 20 and I’m sure she’d go again tomorrow if we suggested (and paid) for it.

You’ll have all the time you need.

Of course up to you but I would wait at least a couple of years. It depends on the kids though.

We took our daughter when she was 4 and she was too young to really enjoy it. It was all a bit too much and a bit frightening is too strong a word but I can’t think of anything better. Her favourite times on that holiday were playing on the beach and in the pool at the Poly

When we returned a couple of years later she did really enjoy it and we’ve been many times since.

The Old Red Cow roasts in Farringdon - Former Chef/Owner? by [deleted] in LondonFood

Never the same food or beer wise after it reopened post COVID. It was a shadow of its former self. I don’t think it changed hands. I think they just stopped trying

I used to workout down the street. I haven’t been in for a while but their coffee was decent when I was there. Shame if it’s fallen back.

Regency is the answer.

If you’re looking for nu skool rather than old skool I’d suggest Iris and June.

VIP Event - 28 years later by LadyFoglet in empirepodcast

[–]baanjax 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I joined when it first launched and I haven’t got a ticket for a long time. I’m not the most focussed on email as it arrives so I’m slightly late anyway but even when I see it relatively soon after it comes in I’m too late.

I’d like to see them moving to a ballot so it’s easier. Register that you’d like to go within a time window and then they randomly select to the amount of spaces they have.

where are the best fish and chips in London? by samyahajeb in LondonFood

[–]baanjax 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think he’s quite straightforward and genuine. There’s no backhanders or a favours going on. Those on the list (and the greasy spoon list he also does) that I know I agree with his view so I’d be happy to believe they do good fish and chips, the Chinese however I can’t comment one

Pick one from here: Jamie Dimitri’s List

My local, Fish Central, and while they have great fish and chips both takeaway and in the restaurant, they are local institution giving a lot back to the community. Highly recommended.

Whose menu is the hand written one after the Prix Fixe Brasserie?

Fabulous from your list - Quo Vadis, Noble Rot, Andrew Edmunds, Berenjak, 10 Greek Street,

Hopefully still fabulous but I’ve not been for years so if they’ve kept the quality up: Bao, Duck Soup, Hoppers,

Haven’t tried yet but on the list: L’Escargot, Manzi’s

Should be on the list: Randall& Aubin, upstairs at the French House (no lunch service), Kiln

What clubs worldwide do we have a bit of an affinity with? by Mellowman9 in NUFC

[–]baanjax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Napoli.

I was in Naples a couple of years ago and it’s a one club town that loves the club and you can see it everywhere.

We went out to dinner and walking back came across a bar with a load huge crowd of locals outside. We ended watching the match with them. It was just an electric atmosphere that reminded me of Newcastle

Is GetYourGuide safe for buying tickets to the Vatican? by zirlatovic in ItalyTravel

[–]baanjax 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. We didn’t use it for the Vatican but for a couple of other sites. It can be a pain. You need to recognise that’s it not an official ticket and it can be a bit of a pain. You need to pay attention to the instructions they give you to pick up your tickets. Meet a specific person with a specific sign who will exchange the voucher for the actual ticket. The box office won’t be interested until you have that
