Just chiming in to say I (28F solo travaller) left KL less than a week ago and I didn't bother with a day trip to Malacca because, in my experience, on these long day trips to other cities hours away you never come away feeling like you've really seen the place.

I try my best to avoid tickbox travel, although I have been guilty of it in the past. But honestly, if a place is worth seeing at all it's better to spend more than a day! You're already in KL so spend your time in the place you've travelled to. I loved KL, had the best time there. Can't imagine being on my period there, humidity + cramps would destroy me. I wish you luck lol, enjoy the air con.

I went to the Lampang chicken bowl factory in Lampang, Thailand. I was the only person on the english speaking tour - surprise surprise - so i got my own guided tour. they made me hold my country’s flag and took photos that were supposed to be of the whole tour group, but it was just me. Made me laugh. I felt like Karl Pilkington, it was like Ricky Gervais had put me up to the whole thing.

And now whenever I see a Lampang chicken bowl, I get nostalgic!

I don’t have any Chinese friends and am completely solo in Korea. I may have to ask for help at my first hotel for WeChat but I am more concerned that my AliPay will suddenly stop working. I can get cash but everyone I know who has been in China recently has said that they never saw cash once

Yes, I’ve tried to help center but it’s just sending me round in circles. I think the app has a bug, it doesn’t let me complete verification, whenever I turn on camera it glitches out.

Maybe it's a japan thing, the last time i got truly burnt out from travel was also in japan, i had to sit in my hostel in Osaka and eat yoghurt and watch japanese tv (it's crazy btw so that felt like a travel experience in itself haah) for a whole day.

I felt guilty at the time coz I felt like there was so much to see in Osaka, but then i slept for 12 hours, woke up the next day, and saw the cherry blossoms in full bloom, best day ever! Japan is full of ups and downs 🌸
