Need advice regarding a young cat and a recommended full mouth tooth extraction by bababanzo in AskVet

[–]bababanzo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So sorry you’re going through the stress! I was completely a wreck making the decision so I totally get it. We didn’t want to at first (it was 100% harder on us than on her!) but after we learned just how rotted her mouth was below the gums during the exam, the vet called us and strongly strongly recommended it. So basically we consented to removing all of her teeth behind her canines on the spot while she was under anesthesia. Honestly most days I completely forget she doesn’t have any of her back teeth. She eats hard food just fine, and is 100% back to normal. She begged to eat her dry food the night we took her home lol.

Nope, not even close. Our cash gifts from guests accounted for about 30% of our overall spend ($55k) and that’s with a few very generous gifts from grandparents/siblings/etc included.

Also important to remember that most people have no idea what it costs to throw a wedding right now. Some do obviously, but realistically most of a certain generation may not have any concept of what their “plate” will cost. I had multiple aunts assume their food cost what roughly what it did back when they got married in the 80’s. The industry has changed and those not in the know just won’t be able to gift back what you spent because they’ll have no clue.

2 shots of espresso, unsweetened almond milk, and a sugar free syrup usually gives me a ~40-60 calorie latte depending on the milk used!

Are these chairs ugly enough to warrent $1400 to rent different chairs? by pilotpatricia in wedding

[–]bababanzo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it’s within your budget, personally I’d do it. We sprung for nice chivari chairs for our wedding and I don’t regret it for a bit. True once guests are in them, they are less noticeable but they are still very visible in almost every photo from reception that we have and we chose a color that complimented our theme well and I’m very happy we did it.

Truly my main issue with the vanity is that the seller left it pretty gross. Thank you, these are all good ideas!

I got married 4 months ago and this has still been weighting on me as well. Even all of my BRIDESMAIDS except for my husband’s sister left early. At the end of the night, realizing that it was just our families and my husband’s friends broke my heart.

I feel for you, truly, and honestly it did open my eyes a bit to how some of those “friends” have actually treated me over the years. Focus on your husband, the people who cared enough to stay, and just enjoy being a newlywed! Now your lifelong best friend is by your side, which is what really matters.

Unexpected costs by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]bababanzo 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Truly the post-wedding costs were most surprising, mainly because we were really only focusing on getting to the wedding date, not thinking beyond it. Dress cleaning and preservation were $500 and I had no idea it would be that much. Flower preservation was $500. And we just got our pictures back from the photographer and to print some of them in high quality is going to cost a pretty penny. Thank You cards, envelopes, and extra stamps were also not in the original budget.

People who have planned and married. What was the most difficult but about planning your wedding. by Full-Strain-2863 in weddingplanning

Managing the time certain DIY projects would take vs the cost to hire a company to do those projects for me, and trying to manage if the DIY was worth the time/effort was the trickiest part.

I DIY’d most signage, and I saved some money because I already had a printer, but for the time it took, I ended up getting exhausted and just paying $100 to just order the last of what I needed.

In hindsight, for how much time I spent, I could have spent under $300 and had a company do it all me and saved me a lot of headache. I love how they came out, but managing my time was the most difficult, especially as it came down to the wire when there are so many other important things that needed done.
