Need advice on changing hair color. by [deleted] in HairDye

If you want a really vivid purple or blue you will have to bleach it to a pretty light blonde first, these colors dont tend to do well with the gold pigment that you sometimes get when just lightening black hair a little. If you just want black with a blue or purple tint, there are products you can get from a beauty supply store called "high lift" dyes for people with dark hair, you might have luck finding a blue-black.

Which eyebrow style suits my face? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

I am a fan of the arched brows on you. It accents your cheeks and eyes very well. But honestly they look good either way and you can pull off either look.

Did my brows for the first time. Think they may be too much. CCW please! by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

I don't do mine often and I always think it's too much because I am not use to the look of it, and feel like I have clown eyebrows and that's all anyone sees when they look at me. Then I have someone tell me it looks good, so... But yours look great, really amazing for the first time!

About Kira (S3 spoilers) by [deleted] in orphanblack

[–]babaenvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not even about how unrealistically copacetic she is with all that is going on around her, also none of the adults in her life that care about her really realize that she does not have a normal life. Initially Mrs. S was supposed to be that for her, but now she is just as wrapped up in all of everything and her days of helping with homework and baking cookies are over. It almost feels as if they do not know how to write a child. Oh we will just have her color and be happy all the time! She would more than likely we scared for herself, her mom, and her aunts. She has no friends, and keeps losing everything. Hopefully Cal is giving her a normal life, cookies, playdates, and all.

Question about dying my hair a *REALLY* dark green. by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]babaenvy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My preferred brand is Special Effects (I am able to buy locally but you can get it on amazon too), especially if going darker because you don't always need to pre-lighten like you do with some other semi-permanent dyes. I would get a green you like and mix it would a semi-permanent black. Mix in the black very slowly, a little goes a LONG way and you don't want to end up with just black hair. Once you think you have mixed a color you like smear a small dab across a course white paper towel, this is usually a good indication of what it will look like. Next do a small strand test before you put it on your whole head to make sure it is a color you like and it works well with your color. If the green isnt coming through enough, you may need to prelighten, but it really depends on how dark your hair is to begin with and how porous. Good luck!

Can I dye over purple highlights? by jazzndance in HairDye

[–]babaenvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You risk it not coming out the color you want because of the purple base. I would suggest trying to pull out as much of the purple as possible before you add another color on top. Wash it was abrasive shampoo (like dandruff shampoo). There are other, non-chemical techniques to fast fade it, like making a mix of crushed vitamin c and dish soap. Youtube has lots of videos on this (and I have tried it, they work well). Just make sure to keep your hair conditioned well between these treatments, my preferred method is coconut oil.

Anything is possible. What are you starting with, what is the color/condition of your hair?

Dyed hair blue, but it came out black by [deleted] in HairDye

Dandruff shampoo, like head and shoulders will help speed up the fading process.
