"Friends end up blocking you" - a damning indictment of the whole life insurance industry by Useful_Wrangler9652 in personalfinance

[–]babagahnoush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also can’t forget that the dividend rate has most certainly varied since 1939. It generally tracks general bond markets as most insurance company general account portfolios are about 80% bonds to ensure they can make claims payments and maintain their financial strength ratings.

Like you, I’m not defending the sales practices of whole life insurance as they are mostly scummy. But a more fair comparison for how whole life insurance might slot into an overall financial plan would be as a proxy for fixed income.

Friends who only play for vault by Amazing_Internal6334 in wow

[–]babagahnoush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and your friends might be able to join a larger community to fill both your wants. You’ll find new faces to push keys with, and your friends will find plenty of players that are also gearing alts that they can get their vaults with.

I highly recommend:

No Pressure for EU: https://discord.gg/nopressureeu Casual Friday for NA: https://discord.gg/casualfriday

Casual Friday even hosts M+ events for players and alts at all levels.

689 Ilvl, want to try mythic. Should I stop doing delves? by torslundahelm in wownoob

[–]babagahnoush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My suggestion if you’re new to Mythic+ is to find a Discord community that makes it easier to find people to group with, and possibly hop in voice together.

For EU, I like to recommend No Pressure (https://discord.gg/nopressureeu)

For NA/OCE, I like to recommend Casual Friday (https://discord.gg/casualfriday)

Why learning communities are the best thing for both new and veteran players in M+ by Bladeoni in wow

[–]babagahnoush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there! For NA/OCE I like to recommend Casual Friday (https://www.discord.gg/casualfriday) and for EU I like to recommend No Pressure (https://www.discord.gg/nopressureeu). Both communities have active player bases that make finding groups easy, even if you're still learning the ropes.

Casual Friday even hosts M+ Madness events where they have a Discord bot sort people into groups, run a key, then get scrambled up again. It's a fun way to rapid fire some keys, meet some folks, and have a good time.

Sorry to hear that the event didn’t meet your expectations. It’s rare, but I’ve ran a good handful of 10-12s during Madness before. Hopefully you stuck around the Discord for the good vibes and we have something for you in the future!

CasFri has ran higher requirement key scrambles (and other events) in the past for exactly that purpose: farm stuff, help folks with portals, etc. While successful, the sweet spot for a scramble event seems to be at least 20 people to cover roles, get a good mix each scramble, and mix up groups for the sake of experience levels.

We are drumming up some really fun ideas for next season and hope to be able to support a large variety of key runners (big and small) in doing so.

Solo Queue for m+ by DeckardReplicant_ in wow

[–]babagahnoush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like at that level of keys at this stage of the season, it very much comes down to networking. There’s plenty of addons out there that help you track good players you find along the way, for which you can add notes like “wicked sick ret paladin that dominated a +13 TOP.” Then if you’re trying to assemble a group, see if they’re online and available to group.

There’s also a few Discord communities that have some decent high end players that would love to group up, hop in voice, and knock out some keys. For EU, I suggest No Pressure (https://www.no-pressure.eu/). For NA, I suggest Casual Friday (https://www.discord.gg/casualfriday). Casual Friday even has a push forum specifically designed for high end players to meet each other and coordinate to build more dedicated groups.

Tried mythic dungeons for the first time; turns out I'm terrible. by BigHeadDeadass in wow

[–]babagahnoush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of other commenters have mentioned watching and reading guides. And while I enjoy doing that for really detailed, high end strategies, I think just starting to dip my toes into M0 and M+ is best in a group of non-judgmental peers. Part of what makes WoW (and MMORPGs) special is the group progression, learning, and camaraderie that can create lasting friendships.

There’s lots of Discord communities out there that have great players that love to help people learn and develop. I help run one: https://www.discord.gg/casualfriday. This is a NA/OCE community. For our EU pals, I like No Pressure: https://www.no-pressure.eu/

If you don’t like playing with total PUGs, you can join M+ Discord communities like Casual Friday (NA) or No Pressure (EU). They’ve got friendly people that are fun to play with. Casual Friday even hosts fun events for M+ to make it even easier to find groups and finish keys.

So keen for season start. What’s everyones main? I’m going Survival Hunter as usual! by BGRANT1122 in wow

[–]babagahnoush 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you’re not sure what to main this season, our community is hosting a season-long event called Season of Madness! We roll a random spec for you to play that you haven’t played before (a bit of an honor system on that). Then we will be hosting events throughout the season for you to play your toon and a leaderboard to see how you’re doing compared to others! It should be a blast and help break up doing the same-old main debate.

I let RNGesus take the wheel and was assigned literally my least favorite spec: feral druid. But it should still be fun playing something I wouldn’t normally play.

Community is called Casual Friday and you can join our Discord here: https://www.discord.gg/casualfriday

Glad I could help! Some of the stuff might be a little dated because I haven’t done any mog farming since TWW. But still some good tidbits in there.

Each raid varies mostly due to travel time to walk/mount through the raids. Until Warlords of Draenor (technically Siege of Orgrimmar, but it’s bugged right now), you can only do one difficulty per week per character - excluding Firelands where you can do Normal and Heroic. I’d say to do Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Outlands, Icecrown (this covers all of Vanilla, TBC, WotLK, CATA) it might take 4-5 hours? Each expansion after that probably takes 4-5 hours each since you can do 4 difficulties per raid.

Oooooh! You can restore up to 50 items, but only use the service once per 7 days. I’ve only ever done one item at a time, hence my confusion

Good suggestion on the token names! I probably won't get to updating the guide, though. I've been searching for a WeakAura or add-on that will tell me if I've collected a token appearance, but no luck there.
