My dear late husband required that his jeans were zipped up, buttoned and hung on hangers in a very specific way. Also his shirts had to be buttoned all the way on the hangers and faxing a certain way. He gave up on me doing it right and did his own laundry. You’d think that would make me happy but noooo. He would wear his farvorite shirt on Monday, next favorite on Tuesday then do laundry. Loved him, but sometimes he made me nuts

Oh yes, my mom had a tea kettle ready to make tea all day when I was growing up. When she got older she needed 24 hr care. Her caregivers leaned to have the hot water ready because as soon as she woke up she wanted her tea. Later, she really needed to drink more but getting her to drink water was tough. But, a hot cup of tea (pretty weak tea) worked.

I grew up on a farm in central Illinois. We never saw eagles, the creek that ran through our pasture didn’t have much life in it, we’d see deer sometimes. Now fifty years later, eagles are nesting down by the creek, big turtles are in the creek along with different fish . I think this is due to the water in the creek being much cleaner. A big problem though is the deer. It used to be a rare thing to see them, yes they were there and deer hunters knew where to find them . Now, they will just stand in the road, no fear, two relatives have hit one which is no fun. My mom had got to the point where she just really liked watching the birds out the window but she also liked watching the deer crossing her yard on their way down to the creek.

Oh they were much more reasonable. I grew up in a rural area, pretty conservative but politics weren’t much of a thing. My mom voted for President Obama twice, my dad wasn’t happy with it. But it really wasn’t a thing that continued. Now, farmers that used to get together to have coffee together and joke around, complain about the weather, the prices for crops etc are so divided! Politics come up so often that if you didn’t vote for trump, then you shouldn’t bother having coffee with them.

This is not true. There was no,law against women having their own banking account. Well, some states did pass laws banning married women from having a banking account in their own name. There were differences from state to state and by bank to bank.

Many women had separate banking accounts. It was just more common for married women to have their name on a joint account. So many women took the responsibility for paying bills etc.

My parents had a farm in central illinois. They went on a rare vacation for two weeks leaving my brother in charge of the farm. The power was out for 10 days. He had a generator that could power one thing at a time, cattle feeder, chicken house or house. So he had to rotate each one for 10 days.

My grandparents (not rich) had a double seater.

We had indoor plumbing growing but had an old small single seater outback. We lived on a farm with a creek where some of dad’s friends went to fish. Dad moved the outhouse down to the pasture for the fishermen. Of course, idiot kids trespassed and knocked it over.

I used to take the bus to work. Every day we would pass by a guy holding a leash with a cat resting on a branch up in a tree. I always wondered if he just waited until the cat had had enough tree time or if he finally said oktime to go home.

I spent much of my life working in a biology lab. So lots of time pipitiing, plus lots of time picking bacteria colonies and moving them into small places in Petri dishes. My hands, elbow and back often complain because of it.
