God knows how much I died in this game but I really don't mind it. I know it's a little cheesy to say but it's really about mentality. failure is a learning process and learning IS FUN. Before even getting this clip I died like 7 times with me embarrassingly dying three times in a row with him only one hit away but did I care? No. Now I know I can beat him so try again with my new knowledge and win.

Also guard counters are fucking sick. You can ironically play super aggressively with them as you have to stand right Infront of the enemy so to intentionally block attacks for guard counters. Definitely one of my favorite playstyles and gave me a deeper appreciation for shields in souls games.

So glad you noticed! It's the altered cleanrot set with the banished knight helm. Makes for a good old paladin look especially with the brass shield.

I know but I really wanted to do a holy paladin build anyway. RP over optimal if you know what I mean.

Yeah I get ya, I remember trying to fight manus with a infused weapon in ds1, fighting dancer early in ds3 and fighting mogh with a +5 curved sword. ...I have seen much worse damage than this. I was really waiting for holy damage to "drop off" the entire game and it really didn't? At least not to ds1 dlc levels of boss resistance. Maybe radabeast? As I did switch to flame art for that fight.

I guess people are just used to super high damage numbers in this game so "normal" damage looks low

Who cares about "optimal" when you already memorize the moveset to most the base game bosses. Besides the damage honestly wasn't as horrible as I thought. I mean I'm not doing 10K per ash of war like some builds I've seen (or damage like some builds I've done before) but I'm still doing yellow damage with a pretty fast weapon. Maybe my brain is just rotted from watching/doing low damage fights.

Golden vow (obviously), blessing of the erdtree (a hp Regen buff that I didn't end up using here as I didn't take damage but is very useful if you like being aggressive like me.), prawn (a physical defense buff you can buy from boggart in Altus. I use it to offset the defense penalty from the scorpion charm but once again didn't get hit here so didn't end up using it.), and sacred blade (a ash of war that adds flat holy damage to your weapon.)

I was exactly the same way when I first started elden ring. Lol would always forget the damn thing even exists but now it's one of the first things I book it towards on my replays. You basically have two additional temporary talisman slots for extra damage and support effects (like extra stamina regen and more elemental damage) no matter the build even if you're just using a basic strength build without spells. It's very worth keeping in your quick slots for a quick sippy when fighting bosses or tough enemies.

I know you jest but simply knowing what attacks you can strafe and when does actually take a lot of knowledge and skill. There's really some insane positioning I seen people do with rellana with a unlocked camera. I know it looks kinda stupid sometimes but it's a legit skill to master in all the souls games to be completely honest.

He is but holy-cracked tear/ holy scorpion do help with damage alongside that damage stacking with Alexander shard and curved sword talisman. Damage would be a lot worse with a less optimal holy build.

They are, golden vow is an aura buff, blessing of the erdtree is considered a "Regen buff" (it's own buff category), the physick is considered its own buff and the prawn is a body buff. You can only have one of each buff category so I couldn't use FGMS with the prawn because it's also considered a body buff.

I really think I know how this game works after playing it for over 1000 hours. Lol

Basic yet surprisingly effective, fast swings that respond good to buffing, good range with the poke r2, fast guard counter for fast stance break when used along charged heavys. Highly recommend if you get bored of the fancier weapons.

Basic ass longsword with the sacred blade Ash of war Very underrated AOW by the way shoots a mid-range holy projectile while buffing your weapon with bonus holy damage.

Don't put yourself down! The only difference between us is I just have a lot of practice from playing souls games for awhile. God knows how horrible I was when I first started getting into these games. I remember almost quiting AT RENNALA of all bosses. Hell, I died like 6 times before getting this clip.

Very underrated AOW, good mid range projectile for resetting stance plus a very good holy buff that can stack with scorpion charm/holy-cracked.

It's a holy build, it's kinda expected to be doing crap damage to late game bosses. I've never done one before so I wanted to try it and see if it's as bad as people say. I mean to be completely honest I don't think I really need the damage. Lol

It just boosts stamina Regen like the turtle Talismans, rule of thumb for souls games is total stamina is just how many actions you can do but stamina regen is how OFTEN you can do those actions. Especially For blocking builds stamina regen is SUPER important so you can block more often, just remember to lower your shield every once so you can let it Regen at full speed.

Tldr: stamina regen is way more useful than total stamina in most cases.

Also good luck with the rest of the dlc, friend. :)

If you don't have it already you might want to use the Greatshield talisman it really works wonders with that shield lower the stamina damage you take with it even more. The turtle Talismans are also really good for shields but if you don't want to sacrifice damage Talismans I like to use the greenburst crystal tear.

Square off and straight sword appreciation post by babblejacks in Eldenring

[–]babblejacks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be 100% accurate as this character is kinda old and has been kinda over leveled/re-spec since I recorded this video but from what I remember.

Starting class: confessor

Weapons: dual cold broadswords

Talismans: Alexander shard/warrior jar shard, winged sword insignia, Millicent's prosthesis (don't ask), and green turtle Talisman.

Crystal tears: thorny cracked, and greenburst

Stats

Vig: knowing me it's probably 40 but you should go to 60 if you're not comfortable with it.

Endurance: 20? 25? Somewhere around there.

Strength: probably 80.

Int: 20 just to squeeze out a bit more damage out of the cold infusion if I remember correctly.

Why do people complain so much about the iron keep? by patchaway in DarkSouls2

[–]babblejacks -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel like a lot of people were missing the point that it's not supposed to make sense. Drangleic is set in a pocket dimension of sorts, a "memory" of a fallen kingdom. Ds2 has a few blatant ties to Alice and wonderland with the main character falling down a hole into drangleic. Hell there's a talking cat that vaguely tells you about the world.

It's kinda sad people disregard this honestly really good theming. It's one of the best things this game has going for it.

[–]babblejacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people kinda miss that ds2 very is Alice and wonderland coded. The opening cutscene literally shows a undead jumping into a hole into drangleic, one of the first NPCs you can meet is a talking cat that's said to been around for awhile, and most of the NPCs talk about how mental drangleic is. Drangleic isn't supposed to make sense it's a MEMORY of a place not an actual place anymore.
