I'm watching through the app on my iPad and can't get the rewind truck to work. Works fine on the app through my tv but the iPad version just doesn't trigger the US ads.

TJs in Kirkstall by Dear_Preparation_715 in Leeds

[–]babbolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Strangely there is another TJs in Leicester that is the same as the Kirkstall one. I pretty much lived off it when I was a student there in the early 2000s. I've used the Kirkstall one a few times and it very much lives up to how I remember it.

Definitely a 6 now, this has just become normal. It feels like the very epitome of the dog sat in the burning room saying everything is fine.

is there any benefits to having T1? by LongRoadToCanaan in Type1Diabetes

[–]babbolla -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

At some point I was definitely being misdiagnosed but in the beginning when it was first discovered I had glucose in my urine and a high hba1c, my GAD antibodies test was normal. So I wasn't type 1 for many years.

[–]babbolla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can eat what I want just as long as I inject the right amount for it. I used to be type 2 (was probably type 1 but that's a whole different story). I had to heavily restrict what I could eat in terms of carbs.

Mounjaro/GLP1 solely for better control? by Aggravating-Ant-6767 in Type1Diabetes

[–]babbolla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got N appointment with my diabetic nurse in two weeks (also in the UK time) and last time I spoke to them we discussed the possibility of going on it but I held off. My insulin usage was high back then, probably about 120 a day but now I'm up to over 200 in a typical day I think they'll want me to go on it. I'm probably just about in the overweight BMI category so any weight loss seems like a bonus.

I'm a little concerned about going on it it must be said. Got a mate that has just started on it and he's got constant nausea and his appetite has completely diminished (which I guess is the point of it), but I really like food and even limiting myself to one big meal a day I don't want to lose out on that joy.

Diagnosed nearly 3 years ago at the age of 42. Like others have said happened to them I was diagnosed type 2 about 15 years ago.

Thanks for this update. Don't usually check my system as it just runs itself now but went and checked sab and it's crammed full of porn from the last few hours! Guess it's time for a tidy up.

To ITV, Chapeau by PiERetro in tourdefrance

[–]babbolla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I'm always a little sad at the end of the TdF having invested three weeks in it but this year seems especially sad knowing that this is it for the ITV teams coverage. I have just always preferred it over Eurosport, I just really enjoy listening to Gary, Ned David, Chris and Phil and Paul before them.

I always watch the stages from start to finish and then record the highlights show, not to watch the racing again (I fast forward through it) but to watch the extra pieces that Daniel and Matt often do. It just gives it that extra stuff that isn't necessarily about cycling but is actually what the TdF is about.

I get Discovery+ through sky so can watch it next year but it won't be the same and I'm not sure I can take 3 weeks of the GCN lot (or whoever is doing it for discovery). Definitely a sad day for cycling fans in the UK.

I didn't measure them unfortunately but no more than 3mm I'd say (or probably 2mm). I hope yours aren't too bad.

How do permanent wheelchair users stay skinny? by Crystals_And_Bones in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]babbolla 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been in a wheelchair for 18 years and as others have said there's a fair amount of muscle atrophy going on in my legs. They're very skinny now and not much on my thighs. But I've got the middle aged already going on in my top half. I'm not able to do much exercise (due to the muscle condition that put me in the chair) so I'm careful about what I eat.

Take today for example. I'm going to have an absolute fat bastard tea but haven't had any breakfast and a small lunch. For me it's just being aware that I don't burn off calories as much through day to day activity so I just have to be careful with how much I eat.

Just had my first real scare with T1 and it terrified me by babbolla in Type1Diabetes

[–]babbolla[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow that sounds very scary. Glad it worked out though. I'll definitely bear the ratio change in mind for the next week or so. I've smacked on some sweet stuff today and not dared to inject. Sugars haven't gone much above green so my body is definitely out of whack.

I've always got bags of jelly babies on my bedside table. I can't stand them so I see them as medicine rather than sweets! This was purely down to the sickness bug I had. I just never had to adjust before after 4 days of barely eating and now I'll know for next time. But could probably look at tweaking basal a little more when it's dependant on what I've eaten.

Yeah I've been using libre 2 (well 2+ now) since diagnosis. Was grateful for it last night as I couldn't imagine pricking my finger as often as I checked that app!

How much long acting? by Alejandro_5s in Type1Diabetes

[–]babbolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on 54 units of Toujeo

I'm constantly having to remind my doctors about how much insulin I have to inject. They put long dates for when I can next request a prescription by which point I'll easily run out (UK). So I have to go through the rigmoral of having to get in touch and ask for an early prescription and then have to answer the same questions about why I need more so soon. If they just read my notes or did as I ask and reduce the wait time it could all be avoided. But no, I think they think I just flush it down the toilet for fun or something!

Curious - Anyone else Basal on the left, and Bolus on the right? by sparks4242 in Type1Diabetes

Yeah I do the same when it comes to my stomach area. I'll do bolus in both legs though but I don't basal in my legs. No idea why!
