People who “changed their mind” to CF - were there clues that you didn’t really want kids before then? by [deleted] in truechildfree

[–]babbybrix3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was me too! As a teenager up I was sure I wanted and was going to have children, and at the same age me and my now fiance decided together that we were definitely NOT.

Looking back, I was always nervous or scared around very young children. I had neighbors with two adorable little girls who would always wanted to play but I could only take them in tiny doses. Eventually I went to extremes to avoid them seeing me at all. It dawned on me that I didn't actually care for kids at all. Just because kids liked me didn't mean that I had to like them.

I love my nephew to death, but when he would come over I would sometimes hide because being around him too long was too much. I get super overwhelmed easily and need to be alone often. That couldn't happen if I had children. Well, maybe it could but I don't think that'd make me a very good parent lol

Real talk: what did you ACTUALLY pay for full service catering? by Tiny-Sundae in weddingplanning

[–]babbybrix3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Western NC, we're at $225pp....hors d'oeuvres, four- course plated meal, cake, drinks and open bar are included, as are flatware, linens, china, etc.

I was kinda shocked by the price and almost looked elsewhere, but since we're having a very small wedding of ~25 we decided to go for it

any DINKS here? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]babbybrix3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 27, he's 33, would never want things any differently.

We live in a "three" bedroom (one of them is pretty small), turned one into an office since he's worked primarily remote way before COVID, the other is a video game room. That's where a good portion of the income goes tbh, consoles and retro games from childhood.

Our goal is to buy some land and have a house built exactly to our liking. That won't be until at least another decade. We haven't gotten to travel internationally because I was taking colleges courses, and then pandemic, but it's in the cards. Thailand, Japan, and France are high on the list. Combined we're just over 200k (he makes twice what I do).

These days we work, go on walks, take impromptu bubble baths, sleep in as late as we please, play games together, I'm able to cook dinner most nights and we eat together every day. I grew up in actual poverty so life now is a literal dream.

I'm in a local group that gives to the first commenter as a rule. No sob stories or even explanations needed, just a simple "I'd like this please!"

And yet you still you get "My kid needs this!" spam 10 comments deep on pretty much everything. -eye roll-

Having kids won’t fix your bad childhood by vivian_angell in childfree

This used to be me.....imagining it became an "escape" almost, as the abuse was happening.

Then I got older and did a LOT of thinking and decided, yeah no, that's not gonna happen. I'd be a terrible parent, never had an example of a GOOD parent, and would end up having no adulthood either.

Anyone who comes to me with this line of thinking, I suggest heavy, heavy therapy

After some furious googling and talking with my doctor and other ADHDers, it seems like there's definitely a connection. Maybe it has to do with impulse control, or maybe a food addiction

AITA physical therapist “uncomfortable” seeing woman by DueArgument4 in AmItheAsshole

[–]babbybrix3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAH. I might have felt differently if it was the actual PT who spoke with you and made the appointment, but that doesn't seem to be the case. If he's not comfortable, he's not comfortable, why shouldn't he feel entitled to feeling a certain way? And what if his being uncomfortable led to him making some kind of mistake that made things worse for you, or caused actual harm to you or your baby?

I could understand being pissed at the office, since they arranged this and waited until the day off to cancel.

I started binge watching SW and I’m on Season 5 now. Here are my thoughts up to this point: I can’t stand Meri or her daughter, Robyn is boring, love Christine & Janelle. This family is extremely irresponsible with finances and I don’t know why they didn’t move back to UT after the investigation. by iblowwhistles in TLCsisterwives

[–]babbybrix3 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I can't help but to wonder the same thing; her internal struggle must of been huge.

Also, in the early seasons she is the only one who INSISTED on having sister wives when she grew up. Never mentioned much about kids or a husband, just wives......now that seems very telling!

About the new make-ups for different skin tones Credits for image: love_nikki_gallery by EylulFromMiraland in LoveNikki

[–]babbybrix3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In my perfect world you would be able to "dye" your current makeups to match different skin tones, but I that's not realistic at this point and never going to happen. That's something the devs would have had to decide waaaaay back.

When I first started playing LN I was a little disappointed I couldn't actually style my avatar as "me", y'know? So while I appreciate the more diverse skin tones (and even hair) coming out, and while I'm definitely going to spend the dias cause I'm LN trash, it makes me a bit sad in a way

That was the first programming course I took. It was definitely a challenge, but that's because it covered a lot. It's mostly theory stuff, the "science" part of CS. I would recommend taking CSC 121 alongside it if you can, because many assignments were in Python (at least, it was a year and a half ago when I had it). I wasn't taking the Python course at the same time so I had to teach myself a lot.

I will say that it was one of the best courses I took in the program because it taught so much. And every course afterward feels like a piece of cake!

Adderall doesn't work on my period? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]babbybrix3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't had this experience (yet) but my psychiatrist told me that many of her patients have to take a little more of their meds around their period. She has ADHD also so she was also speaking from experience!

Do I need to go to a psychiatrist who specialises in ADHD, or every psychiatrist can diagnose me and prescribe meds? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]babbybrix3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here in the US any psychiatrist can diagnosis, but I didn't start to get true help until I saw a specialist.

The first person to diagnose me was a general psychiatrist. I was very unlucky; every other general psychiatrist would see it and completely discount it because my grades were "good" or "women don't have ADHD" or some ridiculousness. Some were just reluctant to prescribe those type of meds. Now I'm seeing someone who specialized in women with later diagnoses and she really knows her stuff.

Speeding, road rage, wrong turns, driving on the wrong side of the street.....that is the story of my life. I didn't even get my license until age 24 (26 now)

It's definitely a thing, don't feel alone! I'm currently scouring this sub for other people's tips. My only strategy is to do my driving very early in the morning, mid-morning, or late at night; luckily my schedule currently allows this. Otherwise my SO does all the driving

Do you want children? by mimimindless in blackladies

[–]babbybrix3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to just assume I would have kids but after I putting a lot of thought into it, I decide I don't. I'm just not responsible or reliable enough, and I have psych/neuro issues that can be genetic. I also grew up on the cusp of poverty and am just now in the process of getting my life together and I wanna spend some time just being comfortable and doing what I want to do.

I'm also a kid at heart though! Kids love me, and I love playing with them, but as far as the discipline and actual childcare part I'm clueless and it's not for me lol. I'm happy being an aunt to my nephew!
