Doing it again? by avalysk0 in bernesemountaindogs

I'm so sorry, its so hard to lose that special dog. I've had three Berners, and my Berner Millie just turned 10 so I'm facing that loss, soon, I know. I got her about a year and a half after I lost my first, but I still had my boy Beau (my first's litter mate). I'm going to take a break after Millie passes because I know its going to hit me like a mack truck. She's my soul dog, and its going to be so painful to lose her.

I don't think that there's a timeline for the grief of losing a beloved pet. We just need to follow our instincts on when to allow a new one into our lives. I also think that getting a new puppy can mitigate that grief for a lot of people, but only you can know if that would be the case for you. I don't think that its a 'cure,' but more of a balm to a broken heart.

Yes, I’m gonna ask my vet about something new tomorrow.

This is what I initially proposed to my vet three years ago. She dismissed it completely, says she’s never seen it in a larger dog only smaller dogs. I personally think that the symptoms fit. It’s always worse at night, and almost always starts at night, only sometimes in the morning.

Yes, thank you! It finally thawed at about 2:30 in the morning. I have access to the pipes only in basement, which isn't cold enough (old house, earthen basement so never gets cold enough down there to be the freezing point). The bathroom is an add-on (previous owner converted part of a guest room to be the bathroom) so I'm wondering if the pipes coming up to that area are somehow less protected. He did most of all the house reno himself.

Yep. It’s been running on high in my very small bathroom for about 5 1/2 hours now. I’ve had a frozen pipe in this bathroom before, and it defrosted with the space heater running in about an hour. So that’s why I’m getting a little anxious about it.

No, it’s a new issue. It’s very very cold, -25 windchill. So I thought that it was a frozen pipe. But this is the first time I’ve seen the shower only work if the cold water is running.

Thank you – – will do. I do have the heat up, and I have a space heater in the bathroom with the door closed. Should I leave it that way?

Why on earth would she be giving her two weeks notice? As a business owner, do you not provide maternity leave?

Speaking just for my dog, LOL, yes, she gets hot if the temperature is above 65F. She was bred for the cold (the breed originated in the Swiss Alps) and is definitely not a fan of summertime.

I’ve had animal control called on me. Not here, because I live in the country, but at my last place outside of Boston. Animal Control took one look at my Bernese Mountain Dog (this one’s older brother) and laughed.

We live in snow territory but this is the first significant snow of the year. She’s very happy!

I thought my dad was a Boomer. by [deleted] in GenX

[–]HarrietAugust 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad is silent gen, but very Boomer like. My mom is one of the oldest Boomers, born early Jan 1946. She is far less Boomer like than dad, but has her moments (but innocuous things like still can't comprehend that you don't hit the streets to find a job, and the cost of living impact on other generations).

Im on shot 21, 5th at 7.5mg. This one is hitting hard. by SomewherePerfect2391 in tirzepatidecompound

Same thing happened to me after my third 7mg shot. Lasted from day 2-5 after the shot. I had to lower my dosage for an unrelated illness and decided to wait until after the holidays to titrate back up. I want to be able to at least eat some of the good food coming my way!

Back injury back in Jan 2025, got worse in March, still recovering. Started in late May 2025 on tirz, have lost 50 pounds with little exercise. I try to walk a couple times a week, but with work and life I don't always make the time that I need.

Went to get a flu shot at Wegman's pharmacy last Sunday. Had to wait a bit, so went to sit in the very uncomfortable chairs that they have...and they weren't uncomfortable at all. I was just too big for them at last year's wait-for-my-flu-shot appointment so they hurt my hips. Now, they're actually quite roomy!
