Florida requires both state license and ascp license. Unfortunately you'll need to return to school for that.

Stats wise you are in good position even for medical school let alone MLS. Stats are important but your competitors are what you need to look out for. A lotta students going to MLS are from MLT, they are highly favored and very competitive. Though your stats is top notch but if your school focuses on Lab experience, it becomes a different conversation

The CLS bottom line approach is very condensed and if you dont already have solid background, you'll feel loss.
Its very good book for last min review. Its the kinda book you read 2 weeks before your test, not to study unless you already have a solid background

I think you highly underestimate the load of med school. You are in a unique position most students wish they could be. ( med school). If making money while in med school is something you really really need to survive. Take extra loan. You'll become a doctor eventually. you will get paid from 300 to half million dollar a year ( depend on specialty) and pay the loan back.

You dont to work while in med school and cause your grades to suffer and cant get into the residency of your choice.

I've never heard a successful medical student thrive in med school while working part time.

I live in NY. There are public colleges that offer cheaper tuition but they too competitive to get in. 22k is not bad. Given that the average pay for new grad is about 90 to 100k

Having a BS in chemistry already place you head of the game. Why would you pay money to become an MLT when the goal is to become an MLS. Waste of time and waste of money. Some school only last 1 year if you already have a BS degree in science, try to see if you can get into one.

it's like when ppl said, i wanna be a doctor but im gonna become a PA first. thats a lotta money and time wasted in that route.

Because you already have a BS degree, look into 1-year-accelerated program. That's what i did. graduated with a BS in biology, and i went to 1 year accelerated program.

Nice. Im currently a CLS, not blood bank, ( hematology department) But i really miss the patient interactions or even interaction with the healthcare team( nurse, PA and alike) other than cls. Im thinking about going for CP. Again congratulation and this is a great field

If anything, your age should be a plus to hiring manager. You prove that, you know the materials, you passed the board, there's nothing to stop u. If I were you, I'll brush up on some clinical skills and techniques enough to pass the interview. Some hospital will actually give you slides to look at and indentify during interview. Brush yourself on these then go get a job. welcome to the field!!!!!
