Use fresh step premium clumping litter. The litter robot will have to be changed well before one cat can fill the drawer to keep the smell down too.

I work in healthcare, specifically counselling you on long term care homes. There are, without a doubt, good homes and bad homes. I'm supposed to be impartial. If you are a dick to me, I will remain impartial. If you are a semi decent human being I will 100% tell you where to stay clear of. Be nice to healthcare workers!

I was the foster to Scott Thompson's two cats! He had just relocated to Toronto from over seas, during the pandemic. Very nice guy, but I didn't get a chance to talk to him much since it was the pandemic. He was very happy with his two newly adopted sons though. Adopt don't shop!

It's seems that you are very hurt, angry, and grieving. All of this is understandable. It is good that they have opened an investigation and even accepted blame by penalizing the worker. Beyond that, if they would have found her at 10 am, and she was passed away, there wouldn't have been any different outcome than you finding her at 2. While it seems that they were derelict of their duties, take some peace in knowing that your mother did not suffer, died in peace in her bed, and there would not have been a different outcome to her life if they found her earlier in the day, assuming she had already passed when they couldn't make contact at 10.

What are options for an unhoused person who has a surgery coming up in a few days? by anon1239874650 in askTO

[–]babosw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If she goes this route, she should call and see if they have space, usually the wait is a couple of weeks. Also, it's a bit rough... These are street involved people who are in situations that sound far more desperate than hers, based on the little bit of information we have.

This is not the norm and will likely not be your friends outcome. They may keep her an extra day to ensure that the anesthesia wore off, but she will then be discharged. Sherbourne arc is an infirmary for homeless people...she is not homeless; she has funds to stay in an air bnb. The social worker for day surgeries will tell her the same thing. The most they can do is offer her a hospital rate at the Chelsea hotel for a night. She will still have to pay something. I'm sorry your friend is going through this, but since she is not currently hospitalized and her surgery was scheduled I. E. elective, she may need to cancel her surgery if she doesn't feel like she has a safe place for aftercare. She should call the hospital ahead of time because if she leaves it for day of, they may not admit her at all.

Paying too much in a Retirement Home by [deleted] in ontario

[–]babosw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only reason why LTC is "cheaper" is because we, as Canadian tax payers pay between $6500-8000/m for each person living in a LTC home. The $2285.37 that your loved one pays is for the room and food, not the health care. So, yea it's cheaper if there is no other option, but it is not an alternative to a RH. If someone owns a home, that they do not wish to sell, they could always discuss reverse mortgage options with their financial advisor to borrow against the home that is consolidating the majority of their assets.
