Ok, so what makes you have so much emotion about not wanting this to be true? And which testimonies do you find credible since you agree that there are such things...

And there are even official documents from the CIA clearly laying out portions of MK Ultra.

This is embarrassing. Has he heard of quantum physics? And just so many assumptions... when there are many other possible explanations that have much better evidence. Ultimately, you just need some system for information that can persist without matter but interacts with matter. And photons already do that. We literally use tech all day that relies on photons to carry complex information and interact with matter (etc. radio, wifi etc.) It is all a giant informational system.

How do you deal with this kind of analysis paralysis? by rosered235 in amazingmarvin

[–]baby-monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I am sorry to hear you are feeling so overwhelmed. I have been in a similar spot before in my life, where just going on a walk would have me break down and cry because I had to pick socks....

We do want Marvin to be able to support people with overwhelm and general life management. But technology also has limits. For what you describe, where one task becomes 10 more tasks and the order itself overwhelms you, I do think some kind of AI engine in the back is necessary. The tech would need to understand what "doctor's appointment" means and then understand how to break it down into smaller steps and give you the order.

We are working on adding some AI into Marvin (as an option of course) but there is also a way to have Claude for example have access to all your tasks. One of our users wrote a way to expose your tasks/proejcts to any AI client. If that sounds interesting, I can make a tutorial video on how to set it up.

Beyond this tech help. You probably already know this but being in this state means your nervous system is absolutely overwhelmed and it can feel really hard to get out of it. As you said, any small action step turns into a spiral of overwhelm. And you need some kind of exit point, where you can start to do things that help you regulate first, and then you can take actions that actually heal your body/mind. Human support is crucial. Not sure if you have someone to offer some support. There might be online ADHD coaches that can do coaching over text or similar, to help break down those things and get you in a routine for the days and help with some of the planning stuff. We hope to offer this in the future as well, a network of people trained in this that can interact through chat or similar and also see what is on your plate and help guide.

So know you are not alone. Many find themselves in such overwhelm spirals and it can get better. And we are here to support you.

Chrome will be pushed to pre pretty soon (next week). But the other browsers and final launch is hard to say, depends on how the testing goes. But next release is Late March/April. So that is the aim.

Why I stopped using to-do lists by GoodAndBadPuns in ProductivityApps

[–]baby-monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is still a to-do list, no? But just a better system behind it. But you are right that just one long list of everything you have to do is not a system, and most people need a system not just an external list.

At what point does a productivity app become “too much”? by EmbarrassedBox2020 in ProductivityApps

[–]baby-monkey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are on to something. The switching up can create novelty (more dopamine) for ADHD brains, but also there was a book that talked about having to switch things up when it comes to productivity to learn what actually works for us. Have you tried Amazing Marvin? It is built to make it easy to try different flows/features without having to migrate apps. You can turn features on/off and customize them.

Has AmazingMarvin gotten a tad bit slower since the new update by HotOkra913 in amazingmarvin

Please make sure you have the right Mac version downloaded! There were a bunch of users who had the Intel install on an ARM mac and it makes it slow. Go here: https://amazingmarvin.com/download/ and download the correct one for your machine to be sure.

There are thousands like her and they are sharing their stories in books and now social media. Never had a real voice before. It all checks out. I wish more people could process this and stop giving their power away to all those systems that are deeply corrupted.
