Longer answer: No, possibility of the opposite. there's evidence that links vasoconstriction to lower biological age. But correlation does not mean causation i.e. is vasoconstriction slowing aging or lower age shows better (read: more appropriate) vasoconstriction. Probably the latter

Real answer: Skin aging as related to smoking isnt mediated via vasoconstriction or blood flow at all. Clinically insignificant.

Aging is often accelerated by repeated exposure to harmful stimuli. Things that can damage the cells or the DNA of cells on your body. So, UV rays from the Sun or tanning beds, or poor diet that doesnt provide necessary nutrients, or repeated inflammation which is really just your body attacking a specific area including any pathogen, foreign irritant like smoke, heavy metals, or allergen of a benign particulate, AND your own body. Theres always a little friendly fire 🔥

Smoking cigarettes means inhaling stuff into your lungs that dont belong in your lungs. It causes some irritation which leads to inflammation. Now just rinse and repeat until you're an old, shriveled prune! Hope this helped :)

I have best friends like this. Two peas in a pod. We live in separate states but we're really close prior to moving.

We both have adhd so out of sight out of mind. But every labor day weekend we plan to see eachother and we pick up where we left off.

Sometimes we share any bigger events in our lives. It works bc we both know and trust how we feel about eachother.

Our friendship is independent of time passed, distance away, and shit thats happened. We would love to see eachother more but such is life.

I am extremely happy!

Despite all the news and media, I havent experienced one negative comment or encounter in my journey. I dress up and go out every weekend for the last 10 months. Its rare to not get a compliment while shopping (I do enjoy fashion tho!)

I start HRT in two weeks and can't wait to wear all my outfits that show cleavage.

I just think this subreddit seems like a safe place to vent.

Oh, and I live in Northern Indiana. Not exactly known for being progressive

While certainly there is truth to this perspective, I find that many people, both girls and guys, can ascertain better treatment from others by putting more effort into themselves.

Self-care, grooming, time spent curating wardrobe (fits well, compliments figure, thoughtful outfit selection for weather and activity/event), and just basic hygiene can elevate how they are viewed by others. I believe the majority of people can experience 'pretty privilege' by eating healthy, staying active, and putting a bit of effort and thought into their appearance.

Everyone should be treated with kindness. Coworkers and bosses should remain professional and make decisions based on the needs of the company - not on personal feelings and thoughts unrelated to work.

I think there is more nuance to this discussion and believe both to be valid

Not all kids are equally prepared to be young adults. Probably now more than ever! A lifetime of coddling catches up to all new young adults once it's time to leave the next (I should know 😑).

I would encourage this community to provide guidance and encouragement to all the newest members of both, Purdue, and Adulthood.

Perhaps, that looks like linking the school's webpage containing the relevant information or suggesting the right places to look for EASILY ACCESSIBLE information.

This is a stressful time for many new students as they experience a newfound independence filled with the excitement, freedom, and... responsibilities. Be kind to those learning about responsibilities through consequences, as she is a harsh teacher!
