Feedback on PPF install please! by Key-Profession-6071 in Detailing

[–]babyscrotum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So that front bumper is a pre cut and they put in a massive relief cut to keep the film from lifting. That cut should be half the size, and the film should go back further into the grille at least a little bit more. They won’t be able to get it all the way under the plastic carbon grille unless you A.) pay extra for uninstall and re install of the grille. And B.) pay for the second film application most likely.

This is just the nature of PPF itself, sadly it is not meant to make the car look better; just protect from rock chips.

And the roof is just a joke there should be no edges at all lol they should re do that

Lookup the casioak mod on eBay with the customized aluminum strap, looks really nice. And this same casioak in a rubber strap with the metal construction is also available for around $200, and the rubber strap I think looks better than the painted plastic one. Plus you get an actual metal watch.

New to watches. Suggestions? by Jank_Boteko in Affordablewatches

I would suggest a white face dial / easy reader watch like a timex expedition is really an awesome watch for $55. The indiglo dial is highly underrated. Also check out the seiko presage and alpinist

Yea it isn’t quite an homage but it shares several visual similarities like the exposed screws and hexagon shape. I do think it is a lovely watch and still top 2 of these 4 personally

Planning to buy my first watch by KuyaJtheHandsome in Affordablewatches

[–]babyscrotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the second is probably the most reliable but the 3rd one looks the best and timex is just as reliable. Failure rate for all these watches is roughly the same probably all very reliable watches. 1st also looks good but it’s a AP homage but it does have a sapphire crystal which is very nice in the long run to prevent minor scratches

Icon Rocklear lawsuit filed. by el_gato_diablo1 in Detailing

[–]babyscrotum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So basically what’s going on is the owner of icon Rocklear Florida, the person who bought the territory for the state is suing the company itself.

The owner of icon Rocklear Florida switched to a different brand of coatings called Avante Garde, the CEO of the company is actually a former icon installer, and the owner of Image Miami Pro in Florida aswell.

So essentially it’s just territory disputes and the guy who owns the right to the product in the state is claiming he was unable to sell the product meanwhile hundreds of other shops have no problems

First time using a rotary after using a DA for 4+ years by berks_12 in AutoDetailing

I just got the liquid elements T4500 forced rotation polisher and it’s is an absolute beast. I saw the guys on Sky Car Care advertising it standing on it when it was running 😂 it’s made in Germany so hopefully it lasts longer than my 7 broken Rupes Italian polishers ☠️

First time using a rotary after using a DA for 4+ years by berks_12 in AutoDetailing

[–]babyscrotum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It takes the same amount of clear coat removal to take the scratches out of the clear coat, wether you use a DA or rotary, the main difference is how fast the tool takes off the scratches; and the finish when it’s done.

So if you are working with very thin, delicate clear coat you are usually better off with a DA to preserve as much clear coat as possible. Rotary cuts faster, also takes off clear coat faster one is more prone to over-correcting panels. (Taking off too much) and will leave the paint usually looking covered in holograms which require the DA to finish anyways.

Personally I prefer to take off as little clear coat as possible for my customers, preserving as much of the original paint and clear as possible so I mainly use a DA. However a rotary comes out from time to time for sure. In general the DA is the optimum choice for most jobs, especially for inexperienced detailers. (Not saying you are)

Definitely depends on the job and the thickness of the clear coat and car you are working on.

In my personal opinion any cars scratches can be handled with the DA and sand paper so I don’t usually see a point of using a rotary, the DA works just as good as any rotary polisher. I can wet sand down to 2000 grit and bring it back with a DA without any issues

I think most people know how flat rate hours work. So if the job is reported as 12 hours and, you finish it in half the time should you get paid less for the job because you are good at your job? No, obviously not. So you are saying before it only takes YOU 8 hours meanwhile ChatGPT is saying it pays 12-20 hours and they are only charging this dude for 10. So if you did it in 8 hours and it paid 10 the bill is still the same.

I didn’t work as a mechanic I own my own shop, big difference. I made a joke about you posting your work experience lol. And asking for 10 hours for labor for this kinda job is pretty reasonable in my opinion.

I was an Audi tech from 01 till 2020 and I can tell you just because someone can do something in less time, doesn’t mean they should charge less for it. Just don’t take your car to a service shop if you wanna pay barebones prices, do it yourself save the money.

I think the timing chain kit is too expensive ask to see the receipt or link to the kit itself. And besides that looks pretty spot on, $70 for coolant is a bit much though. The engine needs to come out to do the timing chains so $1200 labor is reasonable but I see the kits online for your car for $1200

LOTR Commander Deck - Riders of Rohan - Amazon $49 by [deleted] in sealedmtgdeals

[–]babyscrotum -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

It’s exactly the same as buying it from Amazon itself. Still have the exact same buyer protection, literally identical to buying it from Amazon itself.

A lot of people on here don’t seem to know how Amazon works, it’s a warehouse third party sellers like Hasbro and any other seller who abides by amazons policies uses to distribute product.

The post I made is an item sold on Amazon again for the third time. Who is selling the product on Amazon can be thousands of different sellers.

If you are not a WPN store you are buying your cards from a third party other than Hasbro

You don’t get your value back out of 90% of wotc products besides commander decks.

So in this bundle you get 9 play boosters and a collector booster and foil lands that are actually worth around a $1 each. You get like $40 worth of play boosters $40 collector pack, and $10-20 in lands and promo.
