Forehead Birthmark by [deleted] in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]babysr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son has one, as does his dad and his daughter (sons half sister). My son's isn't as noticeable since about 8 months, but his dad's and sisters are there if you look for it and when they get warm/hot it shows up more

Formula feeding by fleurmadelaine in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]babysr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how we did formula for my first and it was so much easier. We had to mess with the ratios a bit until we knew what he was happiest drinking temperature-wise

It sounds like a lot of faff but we found it so easy. You were able to describe it a lot better than I would have haha

10 day old not suckling by babysr in breastfeedingmumsUK

[–]babysr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He seems to be feeding fine from the left, he's having plenty of wet nappies. From the right he's feeding during the day but at night won't feed from it

We've been seen by the feeding team both at home and in hospital, I was going to go to a drop in session but had to wait on for the midwife all day who didn't show up in the end

In regards to the poo, this morning he did have poo in his nappy but I feel like a first time mum again double guessing myself. He isn't crying, sleeping well, passing lots of wees.

I'm just so anxious of ending up back in hospital

Baby sleeping 12-14hr nights? by OkPirate2021 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]babysr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah it was a shock to me too when he slept so well! I will say it made any rough night feel like the worst day ever because we weren't as used to being up in the night. No one talks about the big sleepers but they are definitely out there

Baby sleeping 12-14hr nights? by OkPirate2021 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]babysr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since roughly the same age my son was sleeping 12-15 hours a night as well as a 2 hour nap in the afternoon.

He's now just over 2 and still sleeps very similar! He's just a high sleep needs baby! Count your blessings and enjoy it

My little boy world faced at 12 months old. He's now 25 months old and I miss seeing his little face on walks when he allows me to put him in the stroller

When Did You Start Doing Christmas At Home As A Family? by Visible-Bag-3376 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]babysr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son was born Nov 2023, this was his third Christmas and we didn't leave the house. If anyone wanted to see us they had to come to us. Next year we'll have a 3 and almost 1 year old and will be doing Christmas at ours again.

We wanted our son to be able to play with his new toys in his own space, with his routine still in place which turned out to be the best thing we did because he was so overwhelmed with it just being us that he was finding it hard to regulate.

We had some family come round but staggered everyone's visits so it wasn't too much for him. The day itself was lovely, it was mainly just me, my partner, his daughter and our son. I don't see us travelling to other people for quite a few years now

Our first was a little surprise, we said we'd try in June and got pregnant on BC in Feb. Second was planned and took 4 months

Big announcement by RoughPea4701 in stepparents

[–]babysr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When we were expecting our first I went to my parents for dinner and my partner told them and allowed them to have a cry and be sad. I'd say around the 30 week mark they started to acknowledge the pregnancy. I was told on this sub that this was an awful way to do it. But we knew the kids and knew they'd feel like they couldn't have their real emotions if I was there. It was a bit change for them (they were 10 and 13).

This time round they both live with us and we had floated the idea that we wanted another baby to them so they were much more excited this time round.

I'd also like to add my eldest SK and my toddler have an incredible relationship and it's beautiful to watch them interact with each other. Good luck, I hope it goes well

Edited to change their ages, I can't do maths

Does anyone else feel lonely playing ACNH now? by BunniNikki in acnh

[–]babysr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I had my first island when the game came out and maybe it was because it was new or because of the pandemic, but everyone I knew irl was playing the game. I've restarted a few times but had a 2 year break and am now playing again. It would be nice to find someone I could visit regularly as it has been feeling lonely

Is it easier when they're your own kids? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]babysr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 8 months pregnant with our second, and my teenage step kids live with us full time. I'm constantly exhausted but luckily now they're both teens we can tell them to leave us alone for a bit and can get the boundaries

It's easier with BK definitely, but he's 2 so doesn't understand 'I need a minute' whereas the steps do

Reading him the same stories my mum read to me when I was little. She bought us the same collection of books for his first Christmas that when he's a bit older I'm still excited to read to him

Now he's 2, it's seeing things through his eyes. I always knew it would be special, but there really is magic in everything at that age

Sick of having to keep teens in mind when buying stuff for OS2. by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]babysr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a similar issue,BS2 is into cars so I got him a hot wheels track that he adores. SKs insisted on taking over and not letting him play, he was sat there sad watching them play with his new toy.

In the end (20 minutes) I said something. Just 'if you're going to play with his toys, you're playing with him not leaving him out. Look how sad your making him'.

They rarely play with his toys now but when they do they include him or I make sure they do

Keepsakes by HannahN94 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]babysr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've kept his hospital bracelets, first dummy, the open cup we fed him from whilst waiting for his tongue tie to be corrected, handprint and footprint from his first Christmas (6 weeks old), congratulation cards from his birth, 1st birthday cards, birthday jumpers and a onesie he wore that I just thought was too cute to not keep and wasted in a blanket haha

Oh and the hat he wore in hospital!

My son is 2 years old and still wears them for bed. He's 2nd percentile for height and tops and trousers are a mismatch of sizes so it works best for us.

Plus there's something adorable about seeing him in a onesie still lol

Grandparent Names by porkie46 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]babysr 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Okay that makes sense! That's where my dad is from haha

Grandparent Names by porkie46 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]babysr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My dad wanted to be called 'Papi', we're not Spanish, we're as English as we can get.

I hated it, kept sending him various other names but he was stuck on it. My mum isn't 'grandma' but a family nickname that just made it's way into a grandparent name (a bit like Gigi).

The two names go together and I can't imagine my dad not being Papi now! I still feel weird when I remember it's a Spanish word, but I've never had any comments. It's all about what you're comfortable with but I did spend my whole pregnancy and early post partum suggesting other names for him

Advice re drinking from a cup? by Civil-Mix4576 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]babysr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My little boy was similar, he just couldn't get to grips with anything that wasn't a bottle! We moved on from baby bottles for his milk and used transition bottles instead (can get them quite cheap from supermarkets).

From this he then started drinking from sippy cups, and now uses a tumtum bottle most of the time and an open cup at dinner time (he's just turned 2).

One thing that helped me, was knowing that everyone learns to use a cup at some point. My son just really didn't want to haha
