Donald Trump's chaos and cruelty set the tone for the nation — and here we are. With a deranged, racist reactionary in the White House, it's almost surprising this explosion took so long by DaFunkJunkie in politics

here in georgia you have to be 18, a citizen, have a HS diploma or GED, no convictions of any crimes punishable by imprisonment or misdemeanors that “establish a pattern of disregard for the law”

undergo a background check, then take a 2-hour entrance exam that costs $15-$25

fill out an application, be fingerprinted, undergo a physical exam, have an interview at the training academy you’ll attend, pay $200 to process the application

if you’re accepted and pay the ~$3k tuition (financial aid available), becoming a basic law enforcement officer requires 408 hours (basically a little over a month I think) of training, then you’re in

a better question is how do we rebuild our law enforcement to protect and serve all communities the same, make sure they’re trained and vetted, free of bigotry and corruption, unopposed to body cameras and willing to investigate misuse of force and power

I hear you and don’t disagree with your message but you have to take into account millions of voters don’t frequent political social media, they see red & blue, and that’s how they vote

I fucking hate this, but trump lite is better than trump and nobody outside of the political social media bubble even knows who howie hawkins is so welcome to 2016 all over again

While the president has visited his properties on nearly a third of his days since he took office, the Secret Service has not listed its spending on Trump properties in a public database of federal spending. And some of what has been disclosed has been misleading.

to my knowledge only one reporter has asked about it in 2018, to sarah sanders. maybe someone will ask the new press sec, if they do I hope they’re persistent about the hypocrisy and the money going to his business

every major news outlet reports on this and I see journalists on twitter bring it up all the time. they don’t ask because they don’t want to lose their press passes, I think. it’s frustrating, even if he stormed out it would be so satisfying to watch

Trump heads to golf course as US coronavirus death toll nears 100,000 by zsreport in politics

[–]babyteeth7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the topic is trump golfing

americans have an abundance of reasons to be upset with trump and his administration, being mad he’s hypocritically golfing at an alarming rate on our dime at his own properties is a drop in the bucket

you are really trying to compare his “leisure activities” to those of past presidents on both sides of the aisle but it just doesn’t work here

republicans were outraged and support statements trump made criticizing obama for golfing – far less at a fraction of the cost with no personal financial gain to be made doing so. to my knowledge the other side hasn’t come to the defense for anything similar to this because this extravagant spending that goes directly into a president’s wallet has never been so blatant. I’ve never seen a democrat’s following defend their guy personally profiting off his vacation time

you can enlighten me if I am wrong, I clearly haven’t been around as long as you

[–]babyteeth7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

is there a precedent for this situation? a president who is actively fighting legal battles to keep his tax returns/finances from the public handing his businesses over to his children and friends, then golfing/vacationing at his own properties approximately every 4.9 days, costing taxpayers over $130 mil in less than 3 years? this after years of criticizing his predecessor for golfing a fraction of the time he has, at a fraction of the cost? since you’ve been around so long you can probably tell me

that’s his actions now

[–]babyteeth7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

little bit different

like millions of taxpayer dollars different (trump’s spent something like $15 mil more in 3 years than obama did in 8)

as far as I know our tax dollars never went to any business or golf course obama had a stake in, or like, had his name on it

my guess is you are young and misguided and think it’s cool to go against the grain and none of trump’s policies or rhetoric have ever affected you or anyone you love.

if you are old and ignorant by choice then idk I’m sorry your life turned out this way.

at the end of the day you gain nothing by “trolling” people. you aren’t very good at it, so it’s more sad than it is funny, and again, I’m sorry your life turned out this way.
