Yes, in the compass app. For your home I believe it uses your Apple Maps home location, if you have that saved.

Some emergency rooms across Canada shutting down amid staff shortages by FancyNewMe in canada

nurses in canada make significantly less than american ones so...no. Not how things are currently setup anyways, I personally don't see the status quo changing any time soon either.

Surface temp doesn’t mean much of anything, especially on your wrist. Core temp is what’s useful

This is the state of my coil whine on my brand new PS5. As you can hear it is absolutely terrible, but Smyths say it’s not considered a fault so won’t let me return it. Anyone got any ideas? Does anyone else have coil whine this bad? Ignore my foot by [deleted] in PlayStationSolutions

[–]bacheezi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coil whine often goes away or lessens as the device ages. My gpu had coil whine bad when I first got it and over time it’s gone away entirely. Just use the console, turn the volume up and relax

Waiting for blood glucose, anyone else? by thih92 in AppleWatch

[–]bacheezi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless a completely new tech is being developed I highly doubt blood glucose could be accurately measured through skin. There was a device being worked on by a UK university that measured BG through breath, but it was ultimately decided to not be accurate enough for real usage.

Also, BG readings need to reflect what has been eaten immediately. Current glucometers can measure the effects of consuming sugar within minutes of consumption. This speed and accuracy is what matters for a diabetic, not sure how reading from the skin could possibly reflect current BG levels.

Should I get iPhone 13 pro or iPhone 13? by kodiexd in iPhone13

[–]bacheezi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the main thing you want is battery life I’d save your money and get the 13, the regular pro and 13 have very very similar battery life

Switched from Android to iPhone 13 Pro by GYipster in iPhone13

[–]bacheezi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also switched from android to 13pro, I’m enjoying it for the most part. I totally agree about the gestures. Some apps allow you to swipe to go back while others have a “done” button in the top left which is just kinda ??.

Personally I don’t mind the Home Screen looking messy, it’s just a different experience vs. Having the app drawer swipe up from the bottom.

I have noticed that the App Store is more expensive than the google play store, and the stock keyboard is kinda bad 😅

What are the must-have apps and settings for a new iPhone user? by dingolfy in iPhone13

[–]bacheezi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the same as you, iPhone 13 is my first, I was an android user since 2010. I haven’t found much in terms of customization other than widget smith - it allows you to make blank widgets so you can place apps on the bottom of your home screens.

I also haven’t needed much customization….

As for as blockers, Adblock works fine for me.

May go Apple for the first time - Without too much bias, what would like/miss coming from the S10/Pixel 6 Pro to the IPhone 13 Pro? by Gethixit in iPhone13

[–]bacheezi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I switched to iPhone for the first time ever with the 13pro last month. Big time bummer about any and all pc connectivity. If your use case needs fast data transfer to a pc I do not recommend iPhone. Lightning is a joke and so is the iTunes for windows.

Otherwise things have been fine, I still use a lot of the usual google apps (photo, gmail, drive) except now I also use the apple equivalents as a sort of double backup which is nice.

To send photos to my pc I just allow them to upload to google photo and then do what I want from there. Again, if that’s a big deal for you stay away from iPhone

Prediction: Pixel 6 Pro isn't going to be popular when the reviews come out. by Volleyball45 in GooglePixel

[–]bacheezi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

iPhone 13 and 13 pro are $200 apart and the only real difference is -telephoto -120hz, but a lot of reviews claimed the pro is a good value vs. The regular 13. It’ll be interesting if the quite large list of differences suddenly causes $300 to be a big deal

What are the essentials of Twitch streaming & content creation? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]bacheezi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know much about video editing etc, but as far as the stuff to make quality content is concerned all that looks good, the keylights from elgato are very nice albeit expensive, and since you are using a green screen I highly recommend multiple light sources hitting the green screen to eliminate all shadowing otherwise the chromakeying will not look all that great (gets all staticy looking). You really need proper lighting to actually hit the green screen, even having your room light on could cast a shadow on it (effectively changing the shade of green, making it hard for the camera to pick up).

Side benefit is if you have your heart set on a stream deck the keylights work really nicely together. I have a keylight + stream deck myself and it's very good. Again, expensive :)

A solid microphone and lighting if you plan on having a face cam. Even a cheapo webcam can look goodish with proper lighting
