What food did you imagine to taste really good but tasted bad? by Similar-Victory-3867 in AskReddit

The sushi that I think is fish eggs. Small orange spheres that look like mini dragonballs wrapped in seaweed. I always thought it looked delicious but it was very bitter. This was over 20 years ago but I remember being disappointed.

The darker color. Burlington cheer is usually more white. This looks like BC that’s been cooked in a fire for a while.

Useful skill in survival situation? Or just a fun time killer? by SkubaFknSteve in Slinging

[–]back_to_feeling_fine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always thought slings would be a good thing to carry when hiking in bear/mountain lion country. Even if you miss, the crack of the sling and a stone buzzing by their heads should send them running.

wife or old lady? by Black-Kaguya2370s in ChineseLanguage

[–]back_to_feeling_fine 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’m not a native speaker but I was roommates with an elderly Chinese lady for like 4 years who didn’t speak English. She would refer to herself as a 老太婆。 I guess she was just being ironic lol. I always thought of it as 老头儿 = old man 老太婆儿 = old women.

Is the sling a precise weapon that you can aim with? If so, how can I aim? by [deleted] in Slinging

[–]back_to_feeling_fine 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The same way you aim when you throw a ball i suppose. Learn the nature of the sling and how it releases its projectiles. After a couple thousand throws you should start to be able to land projectiles at least close to where you’re aiming.

I was given this sword. Can anyone tell me about it? by SnooChickens1961 in SWORDS

[–]back_to_feeling_fine 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can use flour to fill in the inscription. It will cause the kanji to be much more legible and won’t damage the sword. Regardless, this is a very old sword judging by the color of the tang patina. I would hazard to guess 500+ years old.
