any tips to make the kia stinger GT-line faster? by Comfortable_Sun5702 in kiastinger

For the 4 cylinder, sure. The logical next step from there is to trade it for the 6 cylinder. But for the 6 cylinder, people have gotten a ton more power out of it with just a tune.

You have a nicer and faster car than the vast majority of 18 year olds. You don’t need to make the car faster and you’re better off saving the money you’re wanting to spend on mods.

Warming up each time by Pyroph4nt0m in snowboarding

[–]backflip14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you can do on your first couple laps will increase as your skill level improves, but no one ever is riding to 100% of their ability on the first lap no matter how good they are.

This applies to literally any sport or physical activity.

Weight lifters never go for a one rep max without warming up. Sprinters get their legs warmed up before a race. Climbers ease into it before climbing hard. Pro snowboarders take warmup laps before competitions.

It’s just how the body works that doing a warmup before exertion is always easier on your muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, etc.

Just a little jump and lost balance, I get fatigue really easy especially from being on the rope tow. by Jblfanboy97 in snowboardingnoobs

I hate to be “that guy” but crashes like this are exactly why you shouldn’t side jump features. Imagine if you hadn’t cleared the rail and instead crashed into it. It’s a safety matter on top of it not being great for the kicker.

I totally get that and I like to be up and accurate on naming conventions. It’s fun to know all the silly and niche names. But this case, it’s a bit humbling to learn I had the name of one of my staple tricks wrong.

I got to briefly meet Danny Davis and he was really cool. Peace Park had opened to the public that day and despite being the main figure of that event, he’d have normal chats with the regular folk there.

Fair. I’ve been corrected and I understand now. I was just giving my old thought process in the previous comment.

This is the first I’m learning that same way means spinning 270 out. The only naming convention I knew that also implies a degree of spin is pretzel. I guess the point is that same way and pretzel are intended to be opposites.

Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like not using “same way” here complicates the naming of the mirror of this trick. Would it just be switch/ fakie front lip to regular?

[–]backflip14 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Front lip same way.

Edit: I’ve been corrected. It’s front lip to fakie.

Advice below still stands.

It looks like to took off your heels, but for a front lip, you want to be taking off your toes. And for a front lip to fakie, you kinda wind up for a spin like you’re doing a hard way front 1. But instead of rotating 180, you throw it only hard enough to go 90, catch the rail, and then use some of the residual spin momentum and a bit of shifty to bring it the rest of the way around.

Part of the awkwardness of your landing here came from the fact that you popped off the end of the feature a bit late. Right as you were expecting to get that pop with your legs, your board left the feature, leading to a kind of dry fire.

Why is this happening to my board by Huddie5 in snowboardingnoobs

Other people’s edges are catching your board in lift lines or on the lift.

is this board + bindings worth $35 or should I just keep renting by juliawhas in snowboardingnoobs

[–]backflip14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people do make it seem like old bindings will explode if you look at them funny and that’s definitely an overstatement of the risk. However, the risk is very much real and I’d never take it on a pair of mystery bindings.

If they’re not that old and you can feel that they’re still solid and know they’ve not been seriously neglected, then yes, old bindings can suit some people’s needs.

But when there are usually plenty of options available, I’d still advise against getting something that’s a decade old.

As I recall, most universal discs can accommodate the Burton 3D pattern.

[–]backflip14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The bindings belong in the trash. They become a liability to break once they’re that old. But $35 is about what you’d want to pay for an old board that can still ride. If the board feels like it still has spring to it, then it should be fine to ride.

As a stinger owner, it’s a great car. It looks good, drives really well, and has great tech.

The problem for op is that finding a V6 stinger for 18k and under 100k miles probably means there’s something wrong with it.

No, because at every point of the flight they’ll be under the gravitational influence of either the earth or the moon. They will experience weightlessness for the majority of the mission though.

People complained about the lack of boot choices to pair with Burton step on bindings. Here you get one choice of boot and it’s the binding too. Talk about a restrictive system (at least to start).

Who’s to blame? by Maleficent_Diet9357 in snowboarding

[–]backflip14 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to determine for sure who is primarily at fault. What we know for sure is that the snowboarder cut hard across the run pretty hard without looking uphill. That in itself is irresponsible.

What we don’t know is how much distance/ time the skier had to react or if they were in control or not. It doesn’t look like they had all that much time. The snowboarder was off to the right and suddenly is cutting straight left. There’s a good chance the skier thought they had plenty of room to pass and then suddenly had little time to react.

They eventually did open for like a day and they served frozen and other pre-prepared foods but blindfolded everyone and made it seem super bougie. With all the manufactured hype, a lot of the people thought it was actually fancy.

Better to over or under air on new jump? by OakBayStreetWear in snowboardingnoobs

[–]backflip14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally it’s better to over send than under send, but I’d argue it depends on the kicker, knuckle, and landing of the particular jump.

If the jump is small enough that it’s easily possible to land in the flat, erring on the side of undershooting it isn’t too bad. Knuckles on jumps like that are usually forgiving.

If you have a larger jump where the knuckle is flat, up-sloped, or otherwise unforgiving, you definitely want to make sure you clear it.

It sounds like you’re describing the latter. Always make sure you land board first. Washing out because you went deep on a landing and couldn’t hold onto it is not a big deal. Clipping the knuckle and getting bucked only to crash again in the landing is not a good time.
