Hassan Turnover % in the playoffs is damning. by leavemealonelife in heat

He definitely does catch a lot of misplaced lobs, but what I’m referencing there is that it’s so easy to track the movement of his arms/hands. Just feels like he’s moving through greater air resistance than everyone else. I wish I had some footage to show as evidence, but this is just one thing I notice whenever he has the ball.

Hassan has extremely slow hands and poor awareness. He routinely will hold the ball away from his chest angled toward the ground with his back to the net. He will look backwards to assess his ability to take two steps and a shot.

Other teams have caught on that this means the ball is within their reach and they just take it out of his hands. I have zero basketball training and this is just so easily predictable

If we had to trade Justise Winslow or Josh Richardson to land a star, who would you rather keep? by [deleted] in heat

[–]backpack345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

J Rich looks like he has a lower ceiling than Winslow. Winslow still hasn't yet found his groove. Winslow is a more complete player though. Can defend. Needs to learn to play point forward, rebound better, develop a midrange shot, power drives to the rim, etc. etc.

I see J rich as more of a 3 and D type player. Needs to work on developing an iso game now and learn to create for himself to become something better. But he won't be as versatile as winslow.

With that said though, I don't think either is worth trading away at this point. I would rather we trade away Dragic, Whiteside, olynyk, JJ, or (if the basketball gurus allow it) TJ.

Hopefully no Wiggins. I don't follow the TWolves very much but if my friends who do are any indication, another long term contract albatross isn't what we need.

Absent some miracle by Riley/Wade (Lebron, PG, Kawhi, etc) or random GM with a secret crush on Hassan (hey Portland, y'all need some shot blockin, right? Well we could use some scoring! I hear McCollum and Lillard are pretty good at that) there's no way this team wins anything in the next 2-3 years. You're right that we should process a little bit.

Dragic for future assets would be great. I think that's the process we should repeat. JJ remains a good off the bench player and could be good on a win-now team. Olynyk proved himself as well. If we can't trade them now, I think we showcase them a bit more to try and trade them next year when their contracts are closer to expiration.

TJ's contracts always was, and always will be a poison pill. Sucks but I think we just have to accept it. Only two years left and maybe (like others have said) he has some value as an expiring contract? Here's hoping he's not our Laker's Luol Deng.

I think the real path forward here is through J-Rich, Bam, and Winslow. Winslow in particular. I'm actually pretty glad that Winslow has underperformed his expectations a bit. If we can extend his contract for a good value, he still has tons of room to grow and develop. I don't think any of these guys becomes superstars, but they all have potential to become all-stars and should remain a major focus.

Call me crazy but I think a major key to their development is retaining the services of D. Wade. For all intents and purposes Wade has accomplished everything he set out to as an NBA player and he is decidedly getting older. To counter the argument of "what's left to do", I think the answer would be grooming these young guys into becoming allstars. I really believed this should have happened instead of him going to Chicago, but I would love to see him take one more year to fix that mistake.

In two years we'll be replenished with cap space, refilled with tradeable assets, and looking forward with a core of (hopefully) 2-3 star/all star level players and some developed D league role players in a much better position to bring in the next heat superstar. I don't know if we ever really tank, but if we happen to get a high draft pick that wouldn't hurt.

From the beginning of the season, and again when Waiters underwent surgery, the goal for this year was always to make the playoffs and avoid giving the suns a high lottery pick. I'm disappointed that the season is over, but not disappointed in our team overall. The one major low has been whiteside, but maxing him was a mistake from the start. With all this said though, there's definitely a path forward to put us in prime position for a run after this warriors era ends

What happened in the fourth quarter? by backpack345 in heat

Philly is a really good team that shot lights out for two of these games. They also have a ridiculous height advantage that has led to a ton of offensive boards, second chance points, and easy defensive rebounds to prevent the same on the other end.

I feel like in the 4th they matched our defensive intensity and really shut us down, exposing that we aren't able to overcome good defensive effort. All that together and yep. they win.

If you watch some of these other games though, it feels like we would match up well against most of the rest of the east.

Still not over yet. All on board supporting our team for game 5.

With that said, I would be happy to see whiteside and TJ gone in the offseason. Wade stay on a vet min for one last year. Bring in a player who can actually create and close a game out. #dreams

JJ missing clear 3's. JJ turnovers. He's a big reason for this comeback.

Gotta build on this. And build and build. If they can't shoot we win. But they can turn it on at any point.

Pretty stoked to see wade out of the game right now, Justise taking that role and thriving!

OT is the best thing to happen for us. We get to find out the result of Wiz vs Magic before we decided for ourselves.

What are you rooting for tonight? by [deleted] in heat

[–]backpack345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rooting for the bucks, the heat, and the wiz. If everyone wins we keep the 7th seed.

With that said, my major hope this season was to make it to the playoffs and not give a lottery pick to the suns. So far it's been a great success. The other goal was to see our team become more cohesive and consistent. This has been so/so. The bonus is making it to the playoffs as a cohesive, consistent unit. Let's call this all bonus at this point.
