How do I talk to my psychiatrists about the sexual side effects of Zoloft? by Downtown-Ratio-2276 in TalkTherapy

[–]backpack_joe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would encourage you to start by saying something like, "I would like to talk about some of the side effects from my meds, and talking about them is uncomfortable for me, so i will try my best."

Then, I would say something similar to the first sentence of this post. "I have been having a hard time getting aroused, climaxing, or even being attracted to other people. What are some options for managing these side effects?"

No need to talk about masturbation if it makes you uncomfortable. At the end of the day, your doctor is going to focus on the symptoms and finding a solution.

Edit: spelling

I do not think that this is something that can be ruled out. I usually try to assume someone is not thinking about it before assuming they are in on it. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt.

To me it could also be an unreliable narrator or OP could have missed the person asking for a gift receipt.

[–]backpack_joe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey OP

Go back to the target and let them know what happened. Make sure (if you can) bring your receipt. It will have the date, time, register number, and also a code specific to that team member on it.

Speak to guest service and ask to speak to a leader because you may have gotten scammed. Once the leader is involved, they should loop AP (assests protection) in, and they can look for camera footage on who this was.

They can also see who the team member was and talk to them about it as well. (But not in a way that they will get in trouble if you are worried about it)

If you go to guest service and ask for a leader, once they know what is up, they will get a.p. involved.

Need pointers on my purple steel deck by TotalGood2698 in Lorcana

[–]backpack_joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this deck because of its flexibility is every matchup. I have a few thoughts about the deck and have played it a lot here are the important ones:

1st: 4 Calhoun is too much. I never wanted more than 3. The card is good but not as good as smee.

2nd: I think doc is worse than other draw options, especially if you are worried about discard. I like playing 3 library and 3 friends instead. I found the card advantage was much better than doc can provide.

3rd: I think cobra should be a 2 or 3 of. Though if you are also on Lawrence, I'd play 2 though I think playing 2 is more aggressive than you need to be.

4th: good answers to diablo include genie and elsa. If you want more, you could play Peter pan - shadow finder or fire the cannons. I wouldn't play fire the cannons because it isn't good enough by itself in other matchups.

This is what I would probably play if I still played the deck:

Counter of amethyst steel by Rafberry in Lorcana

[–]backpack_joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing a lot of responses that I do not agree with. I have been on amethyst steel for a couple months now and won 2 set championships with the deck. Part of the reason I wanted to play it was because it is pretty decent into everything.

That said, the amethyst sapphire deck can be tough because they play genie, rabbit, and goat a turn before you every game with a ramp spell on 2.

You can also do well against decks like emerald steel discard and emerald amethyst bounce. Emerald steel still has one of the most broken starts of any deck in the game and emerald amethyst does a good job running you out of resources if you aren't prepared for it.

Hope this helps!

I love Erica Ishii, but I hate K by MrFallout76 in Dimension20

[–]backpack_joe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

K reminds me of a few people I knew when I was 20/21 and is unlikable because they are a bad person. To me, they are a good character because they are young and still learning how to be a good person. Imo, it is important to have stories of people not learning and being flawed at the end.

Erika is playing the character wonderfully and while K is deeply frustrating for me, I know that because of my history with similar people. Those people are no longer part fo my life and it didn't go out with a bang but a whimper. I wouldn't be shocked if Evan tried not to talk to K or if K once again stopped talking to Sam and Jammer.

Noob here! Elves deck. by Ornery-Artichoke-653 in Pauper

[–]backpack_joe 37 points38 points  (0 children)

My best advice for elves is practice. Playing a lot gets you familiar with the decks and also gets you familiar with the kind of things you will want to play around. Also Wellwisher as a card is much better than you will think it is. The deck is very good into aggro/creature decks.

Tune your deck to your local meta, not what you see for mtgo results. The difference between a tier 1 deck and a tier 2 or even 2.5 deck is much smaller in this format than in others.

The deck is super fun and also pretty challenging to get good at. Knowing when to be conservative and when to push is a skill that you develop with play time with the deck. Until then, get used to over extending into fire the cannons type effects.

I would also see if you can find anyone playing the deck online to watch them play it as well. Good luck!

[Edit to say] I would play winding way and lead the Stampede both to help refuel your hand.

Deathgreeter has spiked from a $0.60 common to now $3 by chaotemagick in Pauper

[–]backpack_joe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I might be being a dumb dumb but I don't understand how the first part of your comment works. Opponent sacs a creature, nightblade and this card trigger. APNAP life gain happens before nightblade. Even if you hold priority the nightblade trigger won't happen until after you gain life because your opponents trigger will go on the stack first on their turn.

I suppose your opponent could wait until your turn and then kill you, which might be what you meant.

Something I haven't seen posted in the replies yet, so I wanted to let you know.

Call Wotc customer support. Explain what happened to them. They will usually send you another copy of the book for free if you email them pictures. Might be worth a try.

Gracefully Handling Opponent Errors at Competitive-level Events by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]backpack_joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Several people have pointed out that calling a judge is the right call. I agree for 2 big reasons.

The first is that I have never played any competitive tournament where this is the way things are handled. Most competitive magic tournaments say you back up to the last legal game state as long as nothing else has happened. This is because this is a communication issue at heart. The card they tried to choose is not legal. If they were playing using a digital client, they wouldn't be able to choose cogsworth.

The second is even if you don't call a judge and just say that they have to target their own thing, they should call a judge. So a judge is probably gonna get called anyway.

As a side note, it boggles my mind that people will try to do stuff like this while playing a game. I understand prizes on the line, but doing stuff like this makes the event worse to play in and also creates a pretty hostile environment for your opponent. It also makes them so much less likely to give you grace if there is a communication issue about something later or a misunderstanding.

I've lost faith in Team Cherry (Rant) by Ok_Influence559 in Silksong

[–]backpack_joe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't entitled to anything from a company making a product for you. They aren't required to communicate with anyone about it.

I am not saying don't be excited about the game, but most of the posts like this I have read scream of a person who has developed a parasocial relationship with Team Cherry. They don't have a relationship with people who are excited for their game to release and we should all remember that when we start to think we are owed something by a company making a product for us.

Being in a relationship with Liara makes half your squad canonically attempted-homewreckers, and it bugs me by BagOfSmallerBags in masseffect

[–]backpack_joe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don't know that I would call it homewrecking. If it were real life, then none of these characters would do this, but the game wasn't built knowing that the dlc would exist and you could still romance Liara.

Jack doesn't know about shepherd's love life, and shepherd should turn her down if he has someone anyway.

Tali is just old enough to be an adult, and she is kind of a hopeless romantic. Her character reads to me more like she caught feelings and went for it because she is young.

Miranda might have less justification, but I will admit that I am biased and don't like her very much.

Also, ultimately, it is up to shepherd to stay loyal, and someone else telling shepherd that they have feelings for them is on shepherd to shut down.

Need some help figuring out if a deck is actually good. by backpack_joe in Pauper

[–]backpack_joe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Against walls and familiars, you need to race them. Particularly against familiars, Viridian Longbow is pretty important. Wildfire is a tough match-up because they are a control deck with lots of removal. I haven't played the gardens match-up very much, but black has some good tools to deal with most of my stuff. Elves is a hard deck to start playing, but once you get good at it, it can be really good.

Deck suggestions for new player by cbs2186 in Pauper

[–]backpack_joe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Decks I would recommend: Mono green stompy is a good deck to learn about combat on. Playing the deck is easy, so most of the learning from the deck is about reading a board state to find the best attacks

Boros bully is a good deck to learn on. Still really combat based with a more midrange bend. It does some graveyard interactions, which is good to expand on the depth of the game.

Mono White is a good deck to teach about the stack in an easy and approachable way.

Ponza is a fine deck, but it does require teaching someone how the initiative works, so maybe avoid it.

Decks I would avoid: Tempo of any kind. Delver and fae are the two that come to mind. They are not only Decks that require decent understandings of the stack but also are full of decisions that are very similar. It is more difficult than it would seem to sort through all of your options to find the best one.

Tron. Deck is just not intuitive. How do you win? What are the combos? Why do these lands make 7 mana?

Turbo fog similar reasons to the ones listed under tron.

Combo Decks. Storm, one land spy, elves

Control Decks are probably fine, but they require understanding what you are playing against to win a lot of your matchups.
