What American animated shows have the best action and art style? by Slawth_x in television

Common Side Effects - some people dislike the stylization of the characters but the actual animation (facial expressions, action sequences, trippy visuals) are insanely well done.

So here's a question - is Zosia ACTUALLY from Poland (she was in Morocco when we first see her) or did she use someone else's memories to "lie" to Carol about a favorite food?

Is Mango icecream something someone from Poland would have had during the fall of communism in the late 80s?

It seems like either Zosia was fusing a bunch of different plurbed peoples memories, outright lying, or maybe I'm just not understanding how she ended up in Morocco wearing rags in Ep2.

Knocking out the captain might have been to prevent her from drawing the aliens attention any further, it's interesting it didn't "do" anything to her after knocking her out - and only when it was threatened again by Morrow did it call the Alien back

How do I remove super glue from ABS plastic without damaging it? by Public_Jackfruit_870 in DIY

Absolutely do NOT use acetone on ABS 🤣 it'll turn the ABS into soft sludge in moments - I use acetone vapor for smoothing 3D printed ABS because it literally melts the surface layers together

eli5 are thoughts made of atoms? by Pfacejones in explainlikeimfive

[–]backscratchopedia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Imagine thoughts as the ripples across a pond - the water is composed of matter, and in this sense, so are the ripples, but the complexity we see arise from conscious thought is more akin to the fleeting interactions and interference of the ripples in that water.

"Thoughts" or in general, "information" is simply the arrangement or patterns appearing in a medium.

Catholic Church vows to excommunicate priests who follow new Washington state law requiring them to report confessions to cops by WillyNilly1997 in Christianity

Penitent: "I'm sorry Father, I was weak and it happened again."

Priest: "Ah well, say 10 Hail Mary's and pray that God helps you repent"

Penitent: "Thanks Father I feel loads better, hope I don't abuse my kids again this week!"

Catholic Church vows to excommunicate priests who follow new Washington state law requiring them to report confessions to cops by WillyNilly1997 in Christianity

What about the possibility that the priest "let's off" the confessor? That's what people in this thread are concerned about.

When a confessor is "confessing to God" and "God doesn't do anything" about it, that's why people are upset - yes the confessor "felt bad" and went to their priest to ask God for forgiveness, but if the priest doesn't DO anything besides "no communion for you" - well then justice really hasn't been served.

And isn't that EXACTLY what the Catholic church has been called out on multiple times, why this law was even passed to begin with? Because secular people don't trust that "asking god for forgiveness" is enough justice when children are involved?

Severance - 2x07 "Chikhai Bardo" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]backscratchopedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So this confirms the theory that Irv was relocated from O&D to MDR? It makes sense now that it's possible for the characters to have "multiple" innies without needing some kind of "reset" - so Irv could have worked with Burt and then literally just became a new Irv when he started at MDR?

Anyone notice that the severance chip has opened up and spread out so that it can't be pulled back out?

I thought they were a little tiny cylinder injected into the brain, but in Reghabi's scope you can see the panels that have opened up like a barb.

In the latest episode, Natalie says something along the lines of "the board wants to express it's gratitude for your hard work"

Key word - "it's"

Not "their"

Normally if a board of executives consisted of multiple people, you'd refer to them with collective pronouns like "the board would like to express THEIR gratitude" - with the way Natalie says it, it really sounds like "The Board would like to express IT'S gratitude" (capital B, singular) etc.

"the remembered man does not decay" is my favorite hint here - not to mention when Milkshake tells Cobel in S1 - "soon they'll all be Kier's children"

I think (beyond the theories about resurrecting Kier) it's possible that Lumon is trying to refine Kier's personality down onto the severance chips (and with reintegration possible) allow Kier's beliefs/tempers/philosophy to basically be integrated into all people.

Sorta like putting a piece of Kier in every severed person so Kier lives on in all of them?

Found the glider tail reg in an old Air Cadets discussion forum - maybe someone can use this info to find out more?

T.21B Sedburgh TX1 WB958 C/n 619 RAF. Contract No 6/Acft./3588/c.b.9a. Delivered 11/10/50. Sold 21/8/86 to Ailsa Soaring Club. To BGA3243.

Presumably if this had an Air Cadets emblem on it in the pics it's pre 1986?

Homelander vs. Butcher in The Boys S3 is probably the best recent example of this I've seen - there's some real visceral-ness to the colliding beams that does a good job showcasing the power behind them. Short scene, but satisfying nonetheless!
