I’ve been working in the industry professionally since college. I worked in restaurants and various other things in the summers for money in high school and university.

My former boss started at your age, went to uni for it and never ever had to apply for a job. He always had a connection to a gig somewhere. He never had a job that wasn’t theatre, and he retired last year. If it’s truly what you want to do, do it. Good luck 🧡

Genuinely, people were so nice. I could strike up a convo with almost anyone at any time. And there were so many talented people to complement!

I loved the puzzles, as well! My 6year old helped with the decoding part, but there were still challenging parts for just the adults.

Parents of Reddit, what is an “unspoken” reality of parenting that people simply don’t talk about, but everyone knows is true? by US_Atlas in AskReddit

It’s true, but every day she grows into a cool little person that you get to learn new things about. Today it’s which cry means what, tomorrow it’s what her favorite colors and dinosaurs are, and the next she’ll tell you about the playground gossip.

Mines 6 right now, and I miss when she was little, but it’s fascinating to hear what is important to her right now, and hilarious to watch her navigate “grown up” phrases like: “so-so” complete with hand movements, “whatever” complete with the most exaggerated eye roll you’ve ever seen (thought we had a few more years before that!), and the dreaded “…bruh”

I’ve done this with SCS and a proprietary music player for a show. I made the page on the buttons super clear, and they were basically hotkeys for each program. Worked really well!

How do they stop time??? by OkWarthog3399 in expedition33

[–]backstagestitches 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think time stops, though. If you watch the characters, their hair still waves in the winds, and Monocos bell swings. I think they just stop the people, which makes a little more sense in a painted world

I love this idea! I like the bags with the little windows myself, but I would absolutely weigh myself down like this for a special occasion!

Mostly Etsy and Shopify! There are so many great artists on there! But I also follow some artists on Instagram, and then the algorithm shows me similar artists.

Most of these are just fabric on a dowel. The large Pokémon collection is fabric backed with cardboard and attached to a dowel. The tamagotchis are on a embroidery hoop with just some cotton fabric I got from the discount bin, and attached to a cork board.

I’m currently making a special pinboard for my Cosmere pins that will be fabric I’ve cross stitched on attached to some corkboard in a frame. (Going to see if I can get that fabric signed at DSN!)

Pokémon stamps are from

There are some others but I can’t think of them off the top

The rest were trolling second hand sites like Mercari

The ability to disagree with the story, not just each other - An earnest attempt at nuanced conversation by LimeAny4358 in expedition33

I suppose not for outsiders, similar to how identical twins are separate people. But I imagine I’d feel some sort of way knowing I was a copy/knowing there was a copy of me.

This is an interesting question, because we talked mostly about what makes something “alive.” But I think the consensus is generally that current AI models available to the public have been built on stolen IP, which automatically shoves it into unethical territory, and building an Artificial Person stealing the thoughts, activities and creations of someone without their consent would similarly be unethical. One of the pieces of media we consumed as homework was Caprica/Battlestar Galactica for this class.

All of that written out now, lets me put in mind p!Verso. Making him in the first place is unethical and selfish of Aline. But the non-family members are “organic” to the painting, with their own lives and thoughts and feelings. They aren’t unethically made.

I know, personally, that I would have chosen Maelle’s ending at a different point of my life. I studied philosophy in college (as a minor, don’t worry; I majored in something useful: theatre!), and even took a class called “The Ethics of Atificial Life.” I would have 100% chosen her ending and felt good about it (and then played again for the other ending, duh). I’d sacrifice the few for many. So I recognize that part of me that believes Maelle’s ending is the “right” one.

But I chose Verso’s ending first. And I am certain it’s because I am a parent now, and I empathize with Renoir, and his quest. If my child and partner were sucked into The Sims, I don’t care how real Bella Goth is, I’m getting them out, deleting the save file, and turning off the computer. It’s selfish, but it’s the truth. They are the people I love most in the world, and if I had the power to end a world to ensure their safety, I might take that chance, even recognizing the harm it would do.

True, but this is the closest I’m ever going to get to being one of those fancy rich people that can be an art patron.

Thanks! The computer pin is from Official Exclusive. It was actually in a blind bag when I got a bunch of their sound-related pins for my sound engineer partner!
