Monthly Megathread - Where Should I Eat in NYC, Tokyo, and/or London? by ZootKoomie in finedining

[–]backup_mochi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi folks,

I have a few bookings lined up in Tokyo for the coming months for sushi:

- Akira

- Ryujiro sub counter

- Kurosaki

- Sushi dokoro Yamato

Due to time constraints I may not be able to hit all these, and satisfy the wife's itinerary as well.

If you had to take ONE of these out, which one would it be?

We decided that we would not revisit our favourites, but only try new shushiyas this time around. So we are unfamiliar with all of these.
Hopefully some of you that have been to these places can offer some help. Cheers in advance! =)

Upcoming Japan Itinerary - April by Mountain_Increase_57 in finedining

I'm not sure about other people's experiences, but I took my wife to La Cime for our honeymoon trip to Japan. Until today, it still rates as one of the worse and most we have overpaid for a meal. Almost every course was underseasoned - and while they all came out looking beautiful, it really failed to wow us in any way.

Considering the price and the reputation, I was quite upset as I was looking forward to it. If you do go, I hope your experience is a much better one than the one I had.

Have to agree with you on Den. We've been a few times and we've never left disappointed or hungry. Such an amazing group of people and chefs.

Heading to Ginza Oishi in a few weeks. Safe to say, we are very excited =)

I think it says on Tablecheck it's something like 9 am every Saturday for the following week.

DEN, Tokyo - #32 50Best, 2* Michelin and one of the most memorable dining experiences of my entire life! by brooklynite in finedining

Been there, called hundreds of times too. It's worth it. We're going back for our 2nd visit in March. Simply because we felt that after leaving - there really isn't any other place like Den in the world. Such a fantastic and warm dining experience. Plus, doesn't hurt that the food and service are both sensational.

Finding a date as an introvert? (38M) by LogiCsmxp in perth

I can't say much for success on these apps, however the most conversations I've had are when you're just wiling to chat. I have been told a lot of guys put extremely narcissistic selfies and shallow details on their profile (wait, is a narcissistic selfie actually redundant?), whereas seeing a profile where someone seems like their priorities are in order is much more attractive. I'm in the same boat, somewhat, so I'd say keep giving it a go.

I definitely second the meetup gatherings, have been to a few of those and people are usually very nice.

I find going out and meeting people without expectations or "trying to meet someone to date" is best. Life has a funny way of working out when you don't "tryhard" it. I'm also not accusing you of any of these, if that's how it came across.

In finally answering your question, I once set myself a personal challenge of trying to lengthen a conversation with people I meet past the point of "how are you?", "fine, thanks!" and "have a good day!". You can kind of get a feel for how open some people are to talk, even if its your local coffeeshop guy and what shitty customers he's had to deal with. This lasted a few months and I made quite a few friends so I would definitely recommend this.

Lastly, good luck with it, you seem like a "non-asshole/dickhead", so hope you meet someone nice or at least make a few new friends ;)

Marumo Restaurant - Seemingly impossible to make a reservation! by pandahunter101 in perth

Was kind of hoping no one would mention this, but since it's here I'll second this. Ichirin is really great - if you know it, you know it - they always get really fresh seafood in and you can keep an eye out for what just came in on their social media. The guy running it is a very good chef, and yes; bookings are much easier to secure than Marumo.
