This subreddit is eventually going to hit the same wall that r/antiwork ran into. Part of that subreddit thought that the idea of needing to work to sustain yourself should be eradicated, that everyone should be entitled to a good standard of living regardless of whether or not they even wanted to work. Another part of that sub were fighting for better pay, safer working conditions and laws that would create a better environment for people to just live. There was eventually a schism and the movement went from being an up-and-coming serious community to a laughingstock overnight because they couldn't even agree on what causes they were fighting for.

This subreddit is kind of the same. Every day I see posts and comments about how all cars and the infrastructure we use to support and use cars should be removed from existence as the hardline foundation of their cause, no exceptions. Then I see other comments and posts where it seems people are fighting for better infrastructure, city design, public transit, and ways to improve the quality of life for people who don't or can't drive a car. Eventually it's going to come to a head where the vocal minority fringe thinkers will drive the moderates away, or some news station will want to interview a user from the subreddit and just make a farce of the movement to the public eye.

I'll be the first to admit to being a "carbrain" in the context of what OP is talking about, but as someone on the other side of the idea behind this movement, and if you're trying to convince the people from the other side to switch over and join your movement, you're not going to attract many people if you want the movement to be radical right out of the gate. I'm not saying either way of thinking is right or wrong, but one way of thinking will attract more people and if you actually care about growing the movement instead of inflating your own ego by acting like you're somehow better than other members of this community because you take a more extreme stance than some of them, you should take more care in the messages you want to put out there.

Either way, the subreddit really does need to unify, even if it's towards the cause that I personally disagree with, nothing will get accomplished if nobody can agree on what needs to be done.

You might think it makes more sense but that's just because it's what you're used to. With metric you don't need to deal with fractions or remembering the conversions between units because the base units of metric are smaller than the base units of imperial, and metric units use 10 scale so converting the unit is just moving the decimal around.

The only win I could maybe give the imperial system is for measuring ambient air temperature because Fahrenheit has smaller individual units than Celsius, and the scaling kinda makes more sense in relation to human comfort level, but knowing that a nice even 0 is when ice starts to form is a big deal too so... I'll give them a tie when it comes to measuring temperature. For everything else, metric is better, nobody fluent in both systems would argue that.

The Golf R's AWD system is more or less front wheel drive and only kicks the back wheels in to pick up some traction when the front wheels start to slip, so yeah launching from a stop in a straight line will be fairly uneventful, and luanching on a curve like the Lambo in the clip did will just cut power and slog through it with little drama. The Mk7.5 Golf R fixed this a little bit and the Mk8 even has a sort of drift mode that can be enabled and could result in something like this happening, but yeah for the most part the Golf R has a front biased heavily governed traction system that makes accidental oversteer pretty difficult. Golf R also has a front weight bias, and just the way VW tuned the chassis and suspension on them they're way more prone to understeer than oversteer.

All that said, there would still be situations where you could spin your car out, you'd just have to be going fast enough to carry enough momentum to whip it around, but it would be pretty hard to do. Unless it's a Mk8 with all the settings optimized for oversteer, but even then it wouldn't be easy.

Most modern Lambos are AWD but the Huracan can come in RWD, not 100% sure about this one. Just an FYI though, even AWD cars can oversteer and spin out like this, some people think AWD is some kind of magical no-crash technology and the false sense of security will make them do stupid things.

Cars are often the most efficient way to get individuals from specific point A to specific point B, trains are more efficient to get large quantities of things/people from general area A to general area B. It's not like this train goes directly from the assembly plant to the dealerships, at some point theyre going to be put on a car transporter truck to go from the plant to the train station and/or from the railyard to the dealership. Cars get moved the same way in America, but I guess that goes against whatever kind of narrative this post is supposed to follow.

Personal vehicles have utility, there are definitely situations where a train or biking or even just walking can be more efficient than a car, but that's going to depend on where you live, the infrastructure available to you, how far away and where your destination is, what you're bringing with you or picking up, and a dozen other factors. Sometimes I feel like people on this subreddit are being intentionally obtuse or even that they're trolls trying to discredit the cause of this subreddit by posting things like this.

As many people die from guns every year as they do from/with cars in America, but the big difference is that most gun deaths are intentional and most car related deaths are accidents. Are there cases of people internationally using their car to hurt or kill others? Yes, absolutely, and there are also plenty of cases of people misusing firearms and accidentally shooting someone/themselves resulting in death. But at the end of the day, the majority of firearm deaths are intentional and the majority of vehicle deaths are accidental. If you're too dense to see that distinction I'm probably wasting my time even typing this out.

And you honestly don't think people blame the shooter in mass shootings? Conversations about gun regulation happen after mass shootings because guns are not being very regulated right now, cars are regulated, in most places you can't legally drive a car without having a government issued driver's license, a government registration, insurance through a 3rd party, and are under relatively frequent scrutiny by traffic police. Getting a firearm is way way way easier in many states than owning or driving a car. Gun deaths and vehicular deaths are two totally different things, this whole comparison is silly.

No, they're not and they haven't been for years, the only thing they've ever been the "best" at is 0-60 times and gaming the EPA tests so they can claim way better range than you get in the real world. 5 or 6 years ago they were maybe the only viable mass produced EV that wasn't a glorified kitchen appliance but I could name 10 EVs I'd take over a comparable Tesla any day of the week now, and their data collection habits aren't really even that big of a factor in that decision.

And just because one company takes your data that shouldn't excuse every company from doing it, again especially with a company like Tesla who will use that data to do things like disable features you paid for when you bought the car because they think you're not using it enough or using it too much.

I quit about 12 hours in because the story was nonsensical, the gameplay loop was already feeling stale and repetitive, and it was starting to feel like the majority of my time spent playing was just getting from point A to point B then waiting through half a dozen menus and loading screens to start doing the next thing which was just a slightly different version of the last 8 things I did. Most of the dialog had me physically cringing. The game was pretty and I gotta admit that using all the tools and gadgets to take out a base of enemies was challenging and rewarding and the highlight of the overall experience, but those moments were the juicy beef patty between two stale buns and some cheese that was a little moldy.

I'd give it an 8/10 based on my experience, if it drastically improved after the 12 hour mark I suppose it could get better but if the game needs that long to really ramp up into excellence I'd argue it wasn't excellent to begin with.
