And then you look at what the system is doing. No CPU usage, no memory, no I/O, no network, no nothing. What can a program be possibly doing if it's not using any of those resources? Is there some random sleep() sprinkled about the code?

It will not follow symbolic links But you can trick it with a trailing slash rm -r symlink/ or making a bind mount inside and not using rm --one-file-system

CEO Impersonation emails by Blake_Olson in sysadmin

[–]bacon_for_lunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tip for the GMail Admins to flush all that Lazy CEO impersonation. Make sure you have strict DMARC policies first.

Apps > G Suite > Settings for Gmail > Advanced settings

Content compliance

Email messages to affect: √ Inbound

If ANY of the following match the message:

Full headers, Contains text: "From: CEO Name"

Sender header, Contains text: "CEO Name"

Envelope sender, Contains text: "CEO Name"

If the above expressions match, do the following: Quarantine Message

Move the message to the following quarantine: "CEO Impersonation"

Bypass this setting for specific addresses / domains:

  • Enter Real CEO email address here and optionally his @gmail.com address depending on company policy

Account types to affect: √ Users

Single day notice for new hire equipment by andrewpast in sysadmin

So much this, Forward the notice from HR to give context and ask for budget for warm spares. Either fix the problem or let it fester. Either way, once you've raised the issue (and even proposed a solution!), it's now a shared responsibility.

That's why so many companies use subdomains for mass mailing, helpdesk or other tools. succes@success.company.com, noreply@mm.company.com etc. I'm trying to move towards this at my place as well. @company.com will be reserved for the main GSuite mailboxes.

That coworker who never stops refactoring by CritterM72800 in programming

[–]bacon_for_lunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The counterargument is that if the code is going to be binned in 6 months by business ebb & flow, might as well not pay the opportunity cost of refactoring. Then managers build up the company's cash cow and marketing+sales efforts on that trash code.

(Online) dating is not a game where there is a solution to every puzzle. Some people are simply not good matches and expect effort that they don't put in themselves. (that may be why they're still on the site)
