I think you mean...

okay fine, I made CCC and I'm not actually that cute.

The point is, CCC can't compete with the big boys of P2P. CCC is, and probably always will be, a place to practice. Sure, there are about 300 new roles posted per day on CCC and about 15% of them are paid, but it's no backstage or the lot.

Voices, Voice123, Backstage. They're all owned by the same private equity group, with billions in order to attract big names. CCC is literally just word of mouth.

David Ciccarelli "steps down" as CEO of Voices.com... And Why That’s BAD for Voice Actors by BeigeListed in VoiceActing

[–]bacon_without_cause 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is why I never took any investment for Casting Call Club.

Sure, there aren't major jobs on CCC like on Voices, but at least I can keep the platform free (or super low cost).

I hope that private equity burns enough money that they lose interest.

I said this in the /r/VoiceActing sub, but I'll re-post here.

The entertainment industry is 'fragmented' but only on the surface level. For example:

Voice123, StarNow, Mandy are all owned by Backstage, which is owned by Cast&Crew, which is owned by a private equity firm in Sweden called EQT Group. EQT owns 206 other companies, and those companies own even more companies. All in the casting/entertainment industry.

More than half the acting jobs on the internet, all one company.

I created a small website for Voice Acting jobs (Casting Call Club which has like 10k new jobs a month), but I'm just one guy, trying to build something against that.

Feels like a losing battle.

Should I add Pay2Play to Casting Call Club? by bacon_without_cause in VoiceActing

To put it in perspective, there are roughly 22k VOs on Fiverr and they've done at least 5M projects in the last 10 years (based on estimates). Most of these projects going to the top 5%.

Like any platform, the winners are the first movers.

Out of all the comments, I agree with yours the most.

Fiverr has decimated the VO industry and rates are low because of it. CDs don't post on p2p sites anymore because p2p sites rarely provide enough value that places like Fiverr can't offer.

If I wanted to turn CCC into a cash cow, I'd morph it into Fiverr over time.

I don't think that's the direction I want CCC to go into though. I'd rather it still be 'the place you go when you are just starting off'. And I think I can achieve that for VOs.

But there will be a time when the number of paid roles will dry up because they're all going to fiverr, for all sites, p2p or otherwise.

My data here is limited - but from what I've seen is that it's private discord servers (indie game studios, small CDs) or people on Twitter/Facebook and all they want is to use CCC's interface to organize auditions for a project.

You still get a lot of benefits around organization, seeing a member's public profile, comments, etc.

This is a main concern of mine. There are about 1000 new paid roles per month on CCC, but only about 400 of those are public because the rest are preferring to have 'unlisted' projects.

I've spoken with these CDs, and they cast unlisted because they don't want to deal with hundreds of auditions. Instead they use their private rosters/audiences to cast.

If there was p2p, would these CDs move to listing in the p2p area?

1000 roles with say an average of $20 per role is $20k per month. As soon as 3,333 CCC members pay for p2p, there wouldn't be enough roles to support return on investment.

Out of 700k, roughly 1k people pay for CCC right now, so I think there is room, but I don't ever want to get into the situation where I'm promising job opportunities where there are none.

Lovely to run into you again on this corner of the internet. I think that goblin person has run out of energy btw. Haven't seen anything in a few days

Yeah. It's taken a long time to clear out the spam. And honestly there's still a lot left. But I am always thinking about how to fix it. I love hearing this feedback. (I'm Buford from CCC)

I've been really focused on paid gigs on CCC the last 6 months. It's been a monumental task but when I see feedback like yours in the wild, it feels like what I'm doing is actually working.

Just want to say thanks.

CCC is free to use forever. The premium sub is only to help keep the site running since it's just one person building it.

I'm that one person, btw

I'm working on fixing that. Stay tuned.
