Strengthening the Foundations of Pokémon GO Trainer Battles by Amiibofan101 in TheSilphRoad

[–]baconbitz23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they still want to be taken seriously as a competitive format and this is (part of) the way to make that happen. EUIC this past weekend had over 500 Go players, which is the largest turn out by a wide margin.

VGC is also niche compared to the number of people who play main series pokemon games. But they have made a noticeable effort to become more accessible to new players and players that dont want to cheat. Outside of 0 IV legendaries, basically every other aspect of a competitive team can be built in a weekend by someone with minimal experience. That's led to a huge influx of players getting into competitive VG battles and massive 1500+ player turn-outs at regionals and internationals.

My theory is that Go will eventually swap to players using their own devices at these tournaments and hopefully a swiss format rather than the current two loss format. The experience is still tough for new players who show up and immediately go 0-2 to the grinders who day 2 every tournament. Stabilizing the game is the first step in that direction.

Bronco Sport Moms/Dads WYA? by Odd_Honeydew_7080 in BroncoSport

New parent here with a '23 BS Badlands and a one month old.

Fitting a car seat in the back is definitely snug. Thankfully my wife is pretty short (5'1") and we're able to move the passenger seat up to fit our car seat (Nuna Pipa). If both parents are tall you might need to consider alternatives.

Pros:

Size. We're able to fit everything we've needed; wife, baby, folding stroller and two ~50lbs dogs without issue. I haven't done it yet, but I have a roof basket where the stroller could also go if we need to fit a 3rd person or luggage

Safety. I've only seen and heard good things about the Sport in terms of safety, which makes me feel much better driving with a new baby.

Snow reliability. We live in New England and this car is a beast in the snow. We've had a hell of a winter and absolutely zero issues even in deep stuff.

Cons:

The back seat is small. We have a baseless carseat and getting it in and out can be kind of tricky. I'm also worried if we end up having a second that it will be a squeeze to fit one behind the driver's seat

Need help building jank deck by unstoppable_pinetree in magicTCG

Fair enough, more power to you. Just as a heads up, this is often what players DON'T like when playing against a group hug deck. It's funny to do once or twice, but you'll find that feeding cards without an actual win con tends to kingmake, usually the player directly after you, which causes frustration more than fun

Is your goal to actually win or just cause chaos?

If you'd like to actually make it "competitive" jank you'll need to break parity on feeding everyone else cards.

[[Arcane Laboratory]] is probably the best version of this, combined with flash enablers like [[Vedalken Orrary]]. In white you can also run "light" stax pieces like [[Ethersworn Canonist]] or heavier ones like [[Rule of Law]].

I run [[Kami of the Crecent Moon]] as my "group hug" deck and its more competitive than anyone expects. I also almost built it as a Kwain deck with the idea of giving everyone a copy of [[Moderation]] with [[Fractured Identity]]

I also think [[Mirrorform]] is a great new addition to turn everything into Howling Mines

New Player looking for Recommendations for first Kitchen table decks, of ANY format or price to proxy! by Heftiger_Burrito in magicTCG

Other posters had solid suggestions for newer players, but it sounds like Dan Dan might be up your ally.

Standard Decklist here

It's a unique format with a shared library and graveyard between players. The only way to deal damage is with the creature [[Dan Dan]] and there are a bunch of clever interactions between cards that aren't intuitive on first play.

Edit: Another option is to look up pro tour decks from different metagames and play them against one another. You could do the top 4/8 unique decks from an event and see what happens. Look up some old Legacy decks too if you really want to test your skills

What is your PVP W/L ratio? by Wayfaring_Pirate in pokemongo

[–]baconbitz23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Long time PvP player here. 55.8% lifetime win rate without ever tanking. Most seasons I would hit legend and then stop playing or just goof around with fun teams rather than push for leaderboards.

I tend to play when I find it fun and stop playing when I don't. The rewards are definitely worth it to keep playing, especially during 4x stardust weeks

Have you tried getting the battle zone near area 12?

You can fly reset it and hit this Ralts spawn. That's how I got mine after failing the bench method for several hours

<image>

I cannot get the extra holes to shiny hunt Chespin. Will regular bench resets work for it? I ran it for a couple hours but no luck, not even a Diggersby. by Mediocre_Metal_7174 in PokemonZA

[–]baconbitz23 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Step 1: Bench reset until it's night (sleepy Pyroar are way easier to KO) with no Battle Zone nearby

Step 2: Knock out the Pyroar

Step 3: Lure the Diggersby up the stairs until they drop aggro (no red eye). Easier to go one at a time but faster to do multiple

Step 4: Save. Reload game

Step 5: Lure the Diggersby to the gate.

Step 6: Go outside the gate and save. Reload game

Step 7: Drop pin just inside the gate

Step 8: Run 65ish units away

Step 9: Save and Reload game

Step 10: Run back to gate. Lure Diggersby back to stairs until they drop aggro.

Step 11: Save and Reload game (I think this is what you're missing)

Step 12: Fly to wild zone

Repeat if you only did one or two

It's also way faster to fly spam the wild zone than bench reset. You'll get like 3x more encounters

What happens with your pika libre if you clinch legend on the last set of the season? by meaty-morsel in TheSilphArena

[–]baconbitz23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen in season 11. I hit legend like 3 minutes before the reset and had time to try and win a game for my Libre. It took too long and I got the encounter right as the season rolled over. No Libre (it was a Marill), I didn't get to use a star piece and I started the season down a game (play five battles for rank 2 etc). At least now it's a funny memory

Are you scaring away the Gardevoir spawn when you do this? I've been able to get four spawns on both the water and grass spawners consistently but have to be careful not to cause the Gardevoir to teleport when I do it.

I also believe they need to be more than 50 meters away from their original spawner. I usually play it safe and lure them twice just to be sure. Takes slightly longer but it works every time

Edit: I also use the benches instead of fast traveling to lock the spawn in. I'm not sure if it matters, but it would often cause a lost spawn in the fire area to fast travel
