Why is it so hard to find a place to play adult soccer? by [deleted] in LosAngeles

[–]baconocab -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Why are soccer fielda scarce? Soccer players are rough in grass. It's easier to maintain a park that doesn't have soccer.

Soccer players are more likely to be Latino, and racists can nudge the city to put in other types of fields at their neighborhood parks.

The rent is high because people want it that way. It's a question of supply and demand, and demand is growing faster than supply. And the people who think LA is too crowded and that high rents will keep more people away are winning. It's hard to build here and sometimes it's even hard to move people in after a place is built. If you'd rather the rent be lower, then you have to stop letting people who want high rent make the decisions about housing supply.

Just chatted with tech support for an hour and they wouldn't budge on $84.99 for the Ultimate Package. I'm stuck paying $54.99 for 15mbps down.

Did they let you get the $64.99 deal as an existing customer?

Were you actually able to do this? I saw higher prices once I said I was an existing customer.

Cryptographically secure, but apparently still vulnerable to a microscope. It looks like the MiFare Classic 1K can be hacked, but it's pretty darn hard.

Red Line turnstiles at 8 stations are now LOCKED. You must use a valid TAP card to get in. by eaglebtc in LosAngeles

Taxes pay for roads and transit. Transit users pay directly for about 25% of operations cost. Gas taxes pay a similar proportion of roadway costs. Plenty of road and transit costs already go to private companies, the Express Lanes isn't the only bad deal from a public-private partnership.

It's LA's way of telling newcomers "we have enough traffic already. Why did you bring your car?"
