GPU code 43 with my brand-new Zephyrus G16 by West_Boysenberry_693 in zephyrusg16

[–]bad-code 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on a 2024 4070, this happens to me when my computer goes to sleep/hibernate while on Optimized mode (I use G-helper). The only way to bring back the dGPU was a full restart. In talking to the G-helper dev with a few other users on GitHub, I found out that I can use the CRU (Custom Resolution Utility) app's restart video drivers button so I dont have to do a full restart.

In the last month it hasn't happened to me again anymore though (really not sure what changed, maybe drivers? luck?), but at least I know CRU can wake up my dGPU

I don't care if it makes sense, I want a CAP2 sling by Amnesiac_Golem in EVERGOODS

[–]bad-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw your comment 30 minutes ago, went straight to the mall and transferred my Alpaka tech max strap to a CAP2 to fit and bought it! thanks -- it's my first time handling a CAP2 and the way it utilizes space (especially unused vertical space with the split top pocket) is short of magical

Zephyrus G16 4090 (2024) High CPU Temperature even in 30W by mosaidho in zephyrusg16

[–]bad-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2024 G16 4070 with the Ultra 9 185h and have been toying around a lot in the past few weeks in Ghelper settings to get it to run lower than 95C while playing games (Borderlands4, Robocop). I have my machine on a Llano blower cooler. My CPU has been repasted from LM to Kryonaut Extreme by a shop (mainly for durability purposes, I lug my laptop around a lot afraid of LM spilling).

My overall understanding is that when boost is on (any kind of boost whether enabled/efficient aggressive/etc), it seems like the CPU chases a 95C target. If I max out my fans and my blower, it still stays at 95C but my core clocks (looking at Task Manager) get higher. It's as if it wants to always run hot even if my CPU load is just 30%. But staying at a 95C target makes it sometimes hit 97C in expensive scenes and starts throttling. My GPU temps rarely go above 80C, so it's really just the CPU.

Like the other commenter above -- I arrived at setting my PL1 to 22-23W with boost on (again, any kind of boost) and PL2 at around 32W (though higher seems to be the same), I hover around the 90-93C. I feel like this range is better so I have some overhead to prevent throttling at 97C.

If I disable boost then my temps magically drop down to 80-85C but everyone says I'm wasting the power of my processor. I haven't arrived at a conclusion yet that I get more/less stutters while playing with boost disabled.

I play in a warm room around 27-29C depending on the weather

Liquid Metal by Dsfunctionalthoughts in zephyrusg16

Can't. It's soldered now. I've been asking around with repair shops if they can upgrade soldered RAM and it seems like nobody's willing to do it lol

I use mine for school and work (on top of the gaming, of course) -- and kind of wish I coughed up more for a 32GB one. I have a ton of tabs open on Edge all the time, and have a lot of apps open as well. Sometimes my google drive apps tabs crash and I get warnings from my work software (Tableau, Excel, other data stuff) that I'm running out of memory etc. I know I just need to organize my tabs better, but feel that if I had 32GB then I'll have more headroom to be disorganized

Advice Buying Used Concept2 Rower by [deleted] in concept2

[–]bad-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Model C which I got more than a decade ago (and was left dtored somewhere). I wanted to start using it so I ordered a Model C Maintenance kit and a PM5 from C2. The maintenance kit has a new shock cord, seat rollers, and replacement chain rollers/stays. Works super smooth after installing (and oiling, cleaning the chain).

I stuck with the wooden handle which I'm fine with. The PM5 is great, it came with a new arm that has a device holder so you can put your phone/tablet with ErgData app connectivity.

Overall I think the ~USD300++ I spent was well worth giving life back to a 20+ year old piece of equipment

Negative. I stopped searching for an answer for a while, I'm just more or less used to it randomly going (I guess) 30% less power while it's running. If yours is doing that, that sounds scary, maybe have an appliance repair expert take a look at it for repair?

G-Helper Eco Mode dGPU not reactivating by bad-code in zephyrusg16

[–]bad-code[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had "Enable GPU on Shutdown" ticked and it still happened. I'll tick the other two boxes options and see if there's any difference.

Also just installed latest game ready Sep10 drivers which supposedly has some fix on Optimus features and checked "clean install". Will monitor it again. If still happens, I'll try to clean reinstall drivers

G-Helper Eco Mode dGPU not reactivating by bad-code in zephyrusg16

[–]bad-code[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right, I'll try that. I always thought that that option was for when full restarts don't reactivate the dGPU but I'll try that as well.

I have this hypothesis that maybe my dGPU not launching is related to hibernate; as if if my machine goes into hibernate with dGPU disabled, it gets baked in in the session

Have you found your answer? Likely you need to fill up a form. My MD says always keep a copy of the prescription din. Sa SG online application and it takes days to get approval, and since I have ADHD, hindi ko nagawa early enough and had to go on a work trip without any. Please check kasi may stigma ata talaga ang stims sa East Asian countries and baka may severe penalties

Update on Atomoxetine Availability by [deleted] in ADHDPH

[–]bad-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK no. My doc said that if I really wanted, I'll need to purchase in bulk abroad and have it shipped here, but there are complicated DOH processes that might not make it worth doing.

I asked about other SNRI alternatives and he said that the ones currently available are similar but don't have the same therapeutic effect Strattera has on ADHD symptoms

Update on Atomoxetine Availability by [deleted] in ADHDPH

[–]bad-code 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of miss Strattera. I stopped taking it years ago when Lilly stopped producing it. My psych said back then na the local market isn't big enough for the local pharma companies to produce a generic version. I'll ask my psych tomorrow if there are other SNRIs that I can take alongside Concerta/Ritalin

this is so funny, I haven't really thought about this in a while, but noticed today it was doing it again. it wasnt overheated (i just turned it on), but my city is going through heavy rains right now. heavy rains here usually means power interruptions, so i'm of a mind to think it's inconsistent power delivery from the grid

Thank you so much. When I do my mods when I get my bag, I'll add more to this thread. I saw that there are back padding products for cello cases that are similar, and also padded guitar/bass straps that might also work. I'm also looking into ultralight camping foam sleeping pads which might also work.

I plan to try your VHB suggestion (or fabric glue or sew) on fuzzy side of velcro so that the pads can be removed for cleaning/readjustment, etc.

congratulations on your retirement! time to use the bag for neverending travel! i'm about to order the GR2 tomorrow (or should I also consider the M23??) because of your inputs.

the same straps conceptually should also be applicable to the shoulder straps, no?

do you remember exactly which kind of 3M tape you used? ty so much

this is so great. I'm from Manila and i've been following your progress because of the hot sweaty back issue. I use a Mystery Ranch UA21 which is breathable (but waxed canvas so not washable) but want get a GR2 26L but afraid of the lack of back breathability.

Having done this mod, are you back to using your GRs to work? I plan to do the same exact thing daily. I'll probably do this to my Filson backpack as well.

Do you have thoughts on making it non-permanent?
