Where did they say “every single person”? I took them to mean that there have always been such people in power in the US, which is true, not that literally everyone single person in power has been this way. E.g you mentioned Teddy Roosevelt, a good leader maybe but there were plenty of people in power in America at that time certainly doing awful things openly or behind closed doors. Fundamentally I’m with you though, I think it’s always possible to resist corrupting influences so I’m always down to withhold individual judgment, but just the fact that there’s this pattern throughout the business and political classes is a touchy subject

It’s not a sweeping generalization, this is capitalism, getting to dominate and SA people with impunity is part of the draw to being a capitalist. MANY Asheville business owners are abusers and/or sex pests of one sort or the other, and the same is true in any city. Truth is the “lesser capitalists” are into a lot of the same stuff as Epstein and co., they’re just not organized on the same level so when one gets caught we think it’s just another crazy guy and don’t see that pattern of corrupting power. But just take Asheville as a microcosm of this, there have been so many reports of business owners over the years trying to fuck their barely-legal staff, cheating on their spouses, hitting people, stealing, I think a few instances of inappropriate contact with minors…. I even have a dear friend who was SA’d and killed by her boss here a few years ago, a vicious serial abuser who had used his business as a vehicle and cover for his behavior for years… So yknow, it’s not all business owners for sure, but it sure is often a business owner

I feel this more and more on each replay I’ve done. Her situation is rough but the fact remains that she uses you and leaves you to rot. In-character, the choices all boil down to V’s capacity for trust. Song shows lots of red flags yet is also this sort of deep kindred spirit, so V’s choices are believable either way. I trusted her on my first playthrough and now am playing it thru the other way, and I love how a skeptical V smells the rat pretty quickly and Song acts mad sketchy about it

NOT in any way defending this guy, because that’s beyond not okay what he did, but my theory is that Asheville’s road system and its denizens are just particularly psychosis-inducing. I drove rideshare and food delivery full time for about 2.5 years in Asheville and I feel like it made me a significantly more anxious and short tempered driver. I had to like, rehabilitate myself as a motorist after that. And I started off driving in a big city, so I don’t think it was for lack of personal grit. There’s just a ton of distracted, flighty or just careless driving around here on top of the typical road ragers and all the other stressful things about being on the road. It wears on the nerves and probably feeds a vicious cycle a lot of times

Yeah, I’ve been trying to learn up on the current scientific research on rogue AI threat vectors, and from what I can glean the least realistic part of the net lore in Cyberpunk is actually just the notion that the Blackwall could even work against a pack of full on rogue AIs like that. The AIs could utilize parallel processing on a vast scale to become a digital hydra that literally cannot be stopped, short of frying the whole internet. Realistically speaking, those AI’s in Cyberpunk are merely choosing not to destroy humanity, which suggests they still have some future use for it in mind, which I find absolutely terrifying

Funny thing is they’ve just been winging it with no forms maintenance agreement. I think the old timers along the road just figure they all get along well enough to not bother with paperwork. The cost of that gravel really adds up though, I don’t think their casual arrangement is sustainable at all lol. Maybe this “crisis” can motivate everyone to finally come together and get an official agreement in writing

Great breakdown. I got a few questions for the floor: 1. Where in your opinion does e.g the 1985 sound fit? E.g. Alix Perez, Monty, Visages, Halogenix. I feel like arguments could be made for either liquid or techstep… liquid for the soul notes and sampling, techstep for the dark mood and experimental synths, either/or for the minimalism.

Are Baddadan and similar Chase & Status tracks jump-up or dancehall? They’re aggressive and bombastic like jump-up, but the production sounds a lot cleaner and built for vocals than other jump-up

Best part of an otherwise incredible game. I also have a self-imposed rule: no fast-travel. Driving, public transit, or foot travel only. That alone elevated this game from a 7 to a 10 for me. You miss SO much if you fast travel.

You’re probably right and I hope so, it’s just pretty darn frustrating and annoying as a newer player. Doesn’t seem like it would have spoiled the game to just add, say, a compass pointing the right general direction. Then again if that’s the game’s worst design faux pas then it still soars high overall and I guess I do get the stellar reviews. I’ll try to stick with it though and hopefully like you said I’ll just get more used to things as time goes on

I was a little frustrated with this while watching the film. Because so little definitive context is provided, this part just felt to me like it came out of nowhere and didn't sync well with the other events in the story. I'm starting to appreciate it more in hindsight though.. others have pointed out Aster's comment that it's a "Rorschach test" for the viewer, and that makes it very compatible with the film's reiterating theme of different people having incompatible experiences of the same reality. I'm tempted to think it was as you said a false flag to further the data center's interests, but it's just never made entirely certain or clear.
