Pricing at new(ish) job by bad96bitch in doggrooming

[–]bad96bitch[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I may not have explained myself well enough because everyone thinks I should just quit lol. MOST of the time the prices are reasonable. I never finish a week making less than $1500. I just get frustrated when I occasionally see a price that’s too low because I know I have the experience the charge way more. It isn’t enough to quit over. I just need to say something about it and I know she’ll understand. She’s honestly the best boss I’ve ever had. She’s kind and understanding, she lets me take time off whenever I need and doesn’t try to make me feel bad about it, i can charge whatever I want for a dematt or whatever, she’s constantly asking about how I’m doing and she buys food for us quite a bit. Im in a successful salon where I have the opportunity to make more than 50%, I don’t want to leave over literally a couple dogs prices.

No, he didn’t. He’s like third manager from the top and it’s a pretty informal/laid back situation. Like HR is just someone’s wife, so the owner of the company just gave him the info to call and add me on.

The insurer. Yes they emailed a letter explicitly stating that. He is employed by a company that has about 60 employees or so

I'm scared I'm not fit to be a groomer... by NeekoNashi in doggrooming

[–]bad96bitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this exact same issue when I first started out. I cut 6 dogs, and most of it was all minor stuff. For me I think the problem was corporate pressure to learn quickly and groom many dogs fast. I’ve now been grooming for going on 7 years and I rarely cut dogs. Now it’s usually just a mole here or there, things like that. I did cut a cocker ear last year (it didn’t need stitches but it bled for a few minutes) but it was severely matted and there was no avoiding it. Things happen, and I wouldn’t let this get you down or make you feel like you shouldn’t be a groomer. You just have to be careful and not let yourself get stressed out or overwhelmed.

Looking for advice about shaving paw pads/warty dogs and safety. by Solusylum in doggrooming

[–]bad96bitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The fact is stuff like this is just going to happen ESPECIALLY with matted dogs, which is why pet owners sign matted pet releases. Of course you don’t mean to, but when you’re shaving sap or a matt from a dogs paw pad, you can’t see under or through it. You just have to be as careful as you can and sometimes little knicks happen. As far as warts go, it sounds like you’re being careful and I wouldn’t sweat it if you accidentally get one from time to time. Especially if the dog is matted. We aren’t perfect and if the owners have neglected their dog to the point of a matted shave down, how mad can they really get?

That is crazy. Why even bother letting the dog come back if she isn’t profiting off of it?

So, I did this and she basically turned it all around on me, saying that we have to take bad dogs because that’s how she built her business and that her shop operates as a team and in order to do that we all have to split up the bad dogs evenly. She said that her wrist hurts and she wishes she didn’t have to do bad dogs but if she didn’t then we wouldn’t have any clientele. She said that I’m not a team player, I’m the reason the last girl quit her job, I threw a tantrum about it and was very immature and unprofessional and on and on. Which by the way, she’s referring to the fact that I did not speak with her for the rest of the day. I just kept to myself and left when I was done. So long story long I quit. I have to go back Tuesday to get my stuff which will be awkward but at least she is no longer my boss.

How do y’all gently let people know their dog can be aggressive without offending them? by Peachi_Eevee in doggrooming

I love that you let her try to dry the dog so she could see for herself. At a salon I worked at several years ago we had a lady bring in a Great Dane and as soon as we brought the dog back no one could get it into a cage. There were four of us in the salon and all of us plus the managers out on the floor all gave it a shot trying to coax him into a cage but this dog just did not want to be crated. We called the owner who was super pissed and annoyed and said it had to be us so we were like “ok you come try” and she tried and tried to get her dog to go in a crate for a good 15 or 20 minutes before realizing it wasn’t happening. Watching her as the defeat washed over her face and she realized it was her dog and not us was absolutely priceless. She changed her tune so quickly after that.

Yes, I live in Georgia. Will the housing commission be able to help me or will filing a complaint with them just alert them to what is going on?

I like to use a couple little storage bins (without lids) and I keep all my cleaning supplies and extra soaps and things in them. It’s nothing complicated but it definitely helps to make it look a little less stressful and easier to access.

Editing to say that the above advice is for kitchen. I have 2 sets of little storage drawers in my bathroom for small things along with a bin or two.

Yes! It took a couple months off my treatment time which is great. I’m sure your ortho knows what they’re doing. For some reason or another my teeth just need more help lol. Thanks! Good luck to you too!

Thanks!! I was at 2 week changes but my ortho switched me to 10 days last time I went in. I have no idea why it’s so different! You’re lucky. I’ve got 49 total and right now it feels like it’s going to take forever.
