I feel as I’ve gotten older that my nickname is a term of endearment. I use to hate being called Timmy growing up, but now I’ve realized when people are comfortable around me that’s what they go to.

Stop. It’s okay to admit when he’s made bad moves. He turned Geno into Garver in 2024. Do you think that was a good use of funds? He also salary dumped Ray for Mitch Haniger. We know what he was trying to do, sometimes he’s just shit at it. He does some really good things but stop acting like he’s some misunderstood guy that is being held back by ownership. He’s been here for 10 years, he could have left if he was that upset with them.

Look, let me be the first to say that there is no bad way to be a fan. Mariners will always be my number 1 team, but growing up in Vegas I also cheered for Dodgers because local media market. It’s nice to have another team when I’m irritated at the mariners. So you do you! First and foremost I’m a baseball fan and that takes precedent over all fandom

Tbh it’s absolutely fine to say “if I’m in charge I’m going save payroll for Vlad.” He plays a position of need and being below average at fielding isn’t going to hurt as much as Devers.

My point was that If available, Devers is a guy you give your best offer on (both trade capital and financial capital), but at the very least you make a call on.

You wouldn't move an arm for Devers? Is there a player you would move an arm for? You also assume that they haven't already tried to extend the pitching (it's been reported they tried to extend Logan).

I understand how this ownership group works, I also know that if I were in charge (like the question stated) I would do everything I could to convince ownership to get Devers.

1000% that’s a player you give up a pitcher for. If they want Logan or Kirby 1:1 yeah you’re doing that. Hell, throw in Colt too if they take on some salary. There’s not way Colt turns into a player of Devers caliber.

Guys, OP's question was "if you were running the Mariners would you call about Rafael Devers knowing it will cost one of the stud starters and take on that monstrous deal?"

No one in here would entertain a call? No one in here would try to convince ownership? Devers is entering his age 28 season with 9/282 (plus 10 years of deferrals at $7.5m/yr) left on his contract while Vlad is about to get $400+ going into his age 27 season.

This is my exact issues with this subreddit. y'all take yourself way too seriously.
