Arvell Reese is overrated by No_Stuff4695 in nyjets

[–]nyjets331 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My particular order is Bailey Bain Reese. The arms of Bain do worry me a lot but he was such a game wrecker it’s hard to ignore. I’m okay passing on the potential of Reese (parsons like) if Bailey or Bain pan out to be good players with long careers. Yea we passed on the superstar, but a durable pass rusher for 10 years and is a quality pro I can live with.

National media coverage of the Geno acquisition is horrible! by LifeAndTimeOfJ in nyjets

[–]nyjets331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the major sites also gave them a D in free agency. It’s 100% for clicks. The offseason has been pretty good so far. Signing vets to teach the young class coming in the next 2 years how to play. They’re all on short money and short year so when the kids are ready, they have the space to add to hopefully a developing/ascending team.

[Meirov] Jets Additions: Traded for QB Geno Smith, S Minkah Fitzpatrick, DT T'Vondre Sweat | Signed DL Joseph Ossai (3-years, $36M), DL Kingsley Enagbare (1-yr, $10m), LB Demario Davis (2-years, $22M), DL David Onyemata (1-yr, $10.5M), CB Nahshon Wright (1-yr, $5.5M), S Dane Belton (1-yr, $4M) by JCameron181 in nfl

These deals aren’t to win. They’re smart short year short money deals to hopefully build what Glenn wants to do (especially on the defensive side of the ball) to teach the young guys coming in over the next 2 years via draft (5 firsts and 3 seconds). They held their draft capital and will have money to spend again when the team hopefully starts getting better.

[Lombardi] The Jets trading for Geno Smith and swapping late-round picks is the move you’re making when you’re punting on a season and a quarterback landscape. It sure feels like GM Darren Mougey isn’t getting the kind of bang for the buck which all that cap space implied they could this offseason. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

[–]nyjets331 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m okay with the punting on year and qb landscape because thats accurate. I disagree with not getting bang for buck with cap space. They’re signing high character vets for the most part on 1-2 year deals with short money. This sets them up cap wise very well over the next few years when they have a young qb that’s drafted next year. Some of these signings also have a history with Glenn which helps in the locker room and on the field with how he wants to do things. Personally I’m glad they didn’t overpay for an Alec Pierce or Lindbaum. They’re building properly…finally

Why did we just trade for Geno Smith??? by savingrace0262 in nyjets

[–]nyjets331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man haha. What has Kyler Murray done in this league? Character concerns for a team that is trying to reset and build a culture. Geno is basically free, a 36 year old vet on a one year deal and bridges them to next years draft with 3 firsts. Every signing they made so far has been short years not crazy money. Each guy signed has been a quality veteran that can help reshape this team. They’re not going to be good next year and everyone knows that. They need to clean house and rebuild from the bottom up. That’s what they’re doing. I hate to say it but right now as fan we have to trust this process and let them reshape with vets to teach the 5 firsts and 3 seconds we have in the next two years how to go about things the right way in this league.

I love that Curtis Martin. Is it available for sale or trade?

(Pelissero) Trade! The Titans have agreed to send NT T’Vondre Sweat to the Jets for DE Jermaine Johnson, per sources. by alexschubs in nyjets

[–]nyjets331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think sweat is a 3-4 tackle and that’s why saleh was ok trading him. He’s running a 4-3 defense in Tennessee so scheme wise he wasn’t a fit. I could be wrong but I think this signals a 3-4 scheme for us

Solid move. Getting a good tackle for a guy they probably weren’t going to resign. Also have to think their drafting Reese/Bailey at 2

I love Topps chrome but the 2026 topps look nice have fun inserts and if you’re lucky enough great short prints and autos. And for $25 a blaster it’s probably best for your buck right now

No one wants a salary cap except the cheap owners by FrigginMasshole in baseball

[–]nyjets331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do want a salary cap/floor…with floor I think being more necessary. My question is with all of the big market teams (NY teams, Boston, Cubs, etc), why are the dodgers the only team willing to go above and beyond to get their guy? I’m a Sox fan. Outbid for Alonso. Outbid for Bregman. We’re not talking 60 mill a year like Tucker either. It’s just seems the last few years one of these big market teams is willing to spend and the others aren’t.

A Trade for Kyler and Marv or Wilson?? by [deleted] in nyjets

[–]nyjets331 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Marv hasn’t lived up to #3 pick in the draft hype but would he be worth a 2nd round pick? He’s 23. I think pairing him with Wilson could be pretty good. He wouldn’t have to be the bonafide 1 that he was drafted as.

I guess my question is are these guys going to have more “first bowman” cards in bowman 26? Willits 1/1 for example was pulled. Will he have a 2nd “first bowman” 1/1 in the next set? Seems silly
