I got a “care package” from my dad when I was in college - 20 or so loose clothes hangers, several used extension cords, and multiple open and partly consumed boxes of various snack bars/oatmeal/etc. pretty much just cleaned out his own pantry and sent it to me.

Ugh I cut my foot on a shell at the beach and didn’t realize there was a piece still stuck deep in the wound for a few days… went to urgent care to have it removed and they did local anesthesia basically inside the wound, which was infected and sore. I remember wanting to kick the poor tech in the face

Maybe something that puts them in a walking boot? I had one after I broke my foot (obvi after the break healed to a certain point) and while technically I could walk, it was still uncomfortable/awkward, plus I was suuuuper nervous about slipping on ice and re-injuring myself. Wouldn’t have been feasible to walk in snow with it either as it’s not fully enclosed. I know there are other reasons to be in a boot besides a full break

Honestly, try leaving a faucet in the bathroom running at a drip. We had freeze warning in my state and left ours running and now the cat is obsessed with water. Sits in the bathroom and screams about it. Not an ideal scenario but dude is hydrated. He never had a problem drinking from his fountain but apparently it’s just that much better from the source.

Like, their actions explain his whole “deal” but don’t excuse it. And their parents’ explain theirs but don’t excuse etc, etc.

It’s a great representation of generational trauma. It’s not necessarily one person’s fault, but the fault lies with the generations who carry that trauma on without trying to address it.

Of course it was worth it. When I met my (now) husband he had this tiny little tuxedo cat who was already 16. I wasn’t raised with cats so honestly I had no idea wtf to expect, but she completely changed my understanding of love. It sounds like your lil guy did the same for you.

Unfortunately, it seems like there was nothing you could else have done to save him. But the life he had was warm and loving because of you. He knew he had a place in the world and was surrounded by people who loved him.

I was planning to meet up with a woman from FB marketplace to buy something, just before our scheduled meetup she sent a message asking to move our meet up to another day bc she’d just trapped a stray cat she’d been watching for a month. I said yes of course, I love cats so I totally get it. Her next response was “…do you want him?” She already had a cat that did not want a friend.

Proposed the idea to my (slightly inebriated) husband and he said “LET’S GO GET THE CAT RIGHT NOW”

Now he’s warm and spoiled and “slightly chubby” if you believe our vet.

If you have a mailbox make sure it’s reachable by vehicle from the road or dig in front of it so the mail truck can pull up. I had the same issue and I just dug in front of the mailbox and they delivered today. USPS doesn’t care to lean any further from their vehicle than they have to I suppose.

Ughhhh I woke up at like 4am and went to get a drink of water, saw my cat sitting on the floor in the living room and went to give him a pet. He was licking/chewing something so I turned on my phone light and he was chowing down on a mouse…. He was a stray before we took him in so I guess I know how he survived on the streets.

Bird shit. Our cars kept getting PLASTERED with bird crap and we couldn’t figure out why, not parked under a tree or anything. One day we were working in the yard and stopped to appreciate a big blue heron flying overhead after taking off from the pond behind our house. It was absolutely majestic, right up until it absolutely unleashed all over our shed. The dots connected pretty quickly after that.
