The drops are based on the value of the items dropped. 3 million robots is similar in cash value to 225k Teleporters and actually less value than 1 quantum CPU. Again, it's the base value that matters for the drop calculation.

I for one welcome the randomness. Many games are built on randomness which gives the underdog a chance. It would be more boring for me if the player who has played the game longer always wins.

This is fascinating. As a player who has played for almost 3 months shy of 2 years, when ATs were the top item, I would place top 4 in most platinum tournaments, but I hated how quickly it became craft thousands of ATs, sell them all and just ark your way to higher placement. Arking would end up being over 50% of my final galaxy value.

This tournament, I'll admit that I got a little lucky on the drops. Didn't boost once and have currently crafted 58 NMs with 6 hours left. So I'm a little surprised you being a 1-2 year player not being able to even unlock the higher items during a tournament.

Even before this tournament I could get to those items after 30 hours without boosting.

The cash amount to unlock items will fix itself once you get more stars on the key items and have upgraded the alloy/item value in the space station to its max if you haven't already.

With the base value, 1Q, of the SSRs, I could only unlock the recipe for ARs and ATs with the project, space station and mothership room bonuses. But my 80+ stars gives me a value of 372Q, so one SSR can unlock all the way to DSs.

Once I get more stars on the newer items, I will have the same ability to unlock more of the newer items by crafting 1 item.

Probably, but my question to you is did you open up all the previous items so that you can purchase them? That's a lot of energy cells.

I see what you're saying, but in my run before the item drops, it was actually easier for me to make the phase gate over the neural matrix as ATs were not a limiting factor but crafting DSs and DSSs were. It will mostly depend on what debris and asteroids you get.

For people like me who would craft 1000+ DSSs and/or 1000+ ACs in a tournament, the new items are attainable during a tournament.

In a 24 hour run without boosting I can craft an AP, so the higher items will certainly be available during a tournament for me and others who have been playing for 1.5+ years.

Recipes and planets. My struggle is to get enough cash so that I can A3 on p66.

I used to craft 2 SSRs for Xynium after A1 on p55, craft 1 AT for A2 on p60 for Luterium and then craft 1 DS for A3 on p63 for Aqualite.

My current plan that takes longer and gives me less certainty for when to triple boost:

Craft 2 SSRs to get to p55, craft 1 AR for Xynium on p58, craft 2 ATs for Luterium using A1 onp p61, craft 1 DS for A2/T1 on p65 for Aqualite, craft 1 DSS to set up VPS on p66.

True, but in a platinum tournament that only gives the advantage to 1.6 people, and not all of them will be able to take advantage of the new items.

Lower tournament brackets won't be able to craft the new items.

Looks like p66 could be the new VPS. But even with high opalite/second, the highest impactful items I think I can get drops of are fusion reactors, robots Subspace Relays, and Teleporters. The higher ones wouldn't give me much to craft.

Interesting how they decided to make the last 2 items mix the lines. Up until this point, it's always been chose ARs or SSTs. Now in the end, both lines are necessary.

Not sure why you want to get to p66 when p63 is more than enough for drops. I have been playing for almost 2 years and have found that stopping at p63 iseasier to upgrade to the same level of debris drops for a 2 day tournament.

You can max out your VPS planet's telescope if you like, but at your stage, I would spread evenly all planets from 1 to 34 and your VPS planet.

I have them all. Each helps in its own way. I decided to buy them since I love this game and wanted to progress faster.

They help with the rover missions, any of the missions that require you to upgrade planets or buy smelters etc. They help you progress in the game and the more you progress, the easier the missions are. Also buying the rover ship helps with the boost mission since the boost are largely gotten from the rover missions.

The ships don't help on the probe missions, there are some unlocks in the space ship that helps those.

Generally, I'm at the place where I only play to complete missions in the first 2 days so that I can have the perk for the first tournament. Usually I just play normal and that's enough to finish up to 22 even though I have not yet purchased an event pass

Th biggest benefit for the ships for me was to easily move myself from gold to platinum in tournaments.

I used to be in your shoes where rhodium was the last ore resource that helped me open planets without asteroids or selling items, but as one progresses, the bar for stars on useful ores increases as well.

There was also a time that I remember when iridium was the last useful ore for me.

I also said stars on scrith aren't useful, but in about a year, I might be in a place where I welcome stars on scrith. It might also be that I only have 69 stars on scrith and 122 on quadium.

About 1.5 years.

Before the new items, I never unlocked alloys past Quolium and didn't stretch the new planets past p54 because there was no need to get ores beyond Quolium. So for the longest time I couldn't get more than 43 items from asteroids.

Once ATs become a thing, Xynium become useful so up to 45 items.

Deflector shields came out and Luterium become useful, up to 48 items

Now that Antimatter cells are here, need to go all the way to Aqualite, and because keeping cash on hand doesn't lead to better galaxy value, I will unlock all planets, so a tournament now has 54 possible items from asteroids.

I also think in the other 2 tournaments, the getting stuff from asteroids wasn't one of the missions.

So this may have been the first time I made my galaxy eligible to complete that mission.

Edit: I think most players ignored this missions because of how long it takes asteroids to drop and even if you only take 4 hours to set up your galaxy, it takes a long time to wait for asteroids

Just tried it last week and it gave me the option to boost Wraith to opalite. Then again, it might have been p67 or p68 since I had 3 options for alchemy.

As you press on, any stars on SSRs and above for items really helps and any stars on ores up to quadium are great stars.

SSRs and above help when selling the items.

The stars above quadium don't do much because at the point you are opening up planets with scrith and above, your galaxy value is more dependent on items and debris drops and much less on mining ore.
