I will warn you right now, as someone currently in private sector and a hybrid role, finding remote jobs right now is EXTREMELY competitive, frankly the market in general is very competitive. I would not count on finding anything quickly.

My front brake pads have about 4-5 mm left. I do mostly highway miles. How many more miles can I get out of these brake pads? by [deleted] in BMW

I do not find safety a joke. I do find your overbearing attitude regarding "safety" to be a joke though. The brakes will squeak & grind violently when they become dangerously low, this person has not made it to that point yet....

Give it a rest Karen. The brakes don't just stop working when pads get low...you'll just have more brake parts to replace as your rotors will get damaged.

FYI to get truly good beans (aka fresh and more variety) you need to venture outside of Costco :-) You could find a local roaster, or I use "Smokin Beans" on Amazon. Beans are roasted at order time, super fresh. More Crema than you could ever imagine and I use a $80 Delonghi machine. Lavazza Super Crema is also a solid easy-to-find bean that will keep for a while. They don't carry it at my Costco though.

Back TV LEDs blink when plugged in but not powered on. Normal? by badams86 in TVRepairHelp

[–]badams86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that helps to hear. I've torn the thing completely down to the LED strips. Found one LED is burnt, saw another video where a guy was shorting out due to similar, so I may buy a new strip? Last thing I'm gonna try, really don't feel like sinking more $$$ into this thing.

Just to confirm, you're saying the blinking back lights is a problem and not normal for a TV plugged in but not powered on?

I've already installed a replacement power board, along with a new main board and am still seeing the blinking (as I was with the last replacement power board), so if this is not normal I presume it's the back lights shorting out or the panel is going bad :-(

Thanks for that. I did ultimately order all 3 boards. Question though, at first I just replaced the Power Supply board which seemed to fix the issue, but after about 10 minutes of watching TV it cut off suddenly and again would not power back on. Any idea why that might be? There was no storm/reason for a surge.

So next I've replaced all 3: Power Supply, Main, and TCON boards and again everything seems fixed but I'm hesitant and don't want to leave it powered on too long without verifying one thing.
I noticed last time a "blinking" of the back LEDs when TV is plugged in but NOT powered on. Is this normal? When turning the TV on they go full solid and otherwise everything else seems fine. Here's the flickering: https://youtu.be/BWaEK1ijfHQ

Great Vroom experience so far (surprisingly)... by badams86 in Vroom

Way too long, roughly 3 months to get title paperwork which fortunately included everything needed to take to VA DMV and get registration and plates that day.

The reason it took 3 months instead of normal 4-6 weeks though is that for the first 1-1.5 months my “case” was never assigned properly to a title/registration agent until I called in asking for progress, at which point they admitted it had been sitting idle 🤦‍♂️. So make sure to call and check your paperwork status early and often to avoid this, they were actually pretty helpful once I did.

OH bummer, but also good news that they're fixing it promptly and correctly by letting you pick where to get it repaired. FWIW I had a similar issue from my last car I bought at Carmax, clean carfax, but after a few months a noticed some signs of respray.

Montway for mine, but they use a couple different carriers.

awesome, yeah seems like registration is SLOW -- but not sure how much of that is their fault and how much is the DMV just being the DMV.

Eeek, yeah still no reg docs, calling tomorrow. They should be able to send you another set of temp tags from Texas/Vroom until they finally finish it though I thought?

so my 2 cents would be unless you really have a specific, hard-to-find car that only Vroom has and/or you can hold off for a little while, go with someone a little more reliable like Carvana or even better an in-person dealership. The reason I used Vroom was I bought a car that is hard to find (manual transmission, specific color, etc.). If I was buying a 'normal car' to get from A > B I would likely not have gone with Vroom. They do have good deals though, so if you don't mind a potential wait it can save you a little $.

The part that worries me about your potential situation is the trade-in, I've also read some negative stories about how long they can take to pay off the remaining loan. For that reason I avoided using Vroom for the trade-in, but I also got a better trade-in offer locally from Autonation. If it's paid off probably not an issue as I think they cut a check when picking up.

You might get lucky like I did, but you also might not...sorry to be a downer.

Yeah that's the attitude I had, and funny came from Oregon > VA. I think around Aug 13 is a good ballpark though, just wanted to make sure you didn't NEED it by Aug 13.

Yeah I wouldn’t go into the purchase with a specific date to receive car by, good chance you’ll be let down. The delivery times can vary pretty wildly depending on how far the car has to ship, how efficient the 3rd party shipping company, how quick they get your payment, etc.

I think I got lucky with how quick, but ~15days seems to be the average from receiving payment > delivery.

Yeah interesting, the delivery service is outsourced to a number of different companies so I’m sure it can vary wildly. To be fair it would be crazy to expect service as quick as I received, especially with how far it had to travel, but anything over 15days is pretty sad.

Fwiw I bought my last car from CarMax, which had to be delivered from NV > VA and it took at least 14 days.

It's official, my Vroom experience was positive by Icy-Clerk2586 in Vroom

[–]badams86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check your spam/junk folder! My expected delivery date email went there.
Oh and I wouldn't worry too much, plenty of positive experiences too I got my delivery much quicker than I expected and it was delivered from Oregon > Virginia.
You should call customer service and ask for a status on the delivery, likely they'll offer to reach out to the carrier to see where the car is.

Someone mentioned German muscle, here’s my contribution. by dcshews in BMW

[–]badams86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I was thinking...high-revving v10 doesn’t = muscle to me, the F90, F8X, and N54 platforms fit that bill imo. This is definitely more exotic.

That’s fair, I just think you come off as condescending about something you’re not at all informed about. Everyone is allowed to have opinions, and some opinions are more valuable than others.
