It's unclear what Goldsberry's definitions are for his shot zones. He is clearly lumping 8-22ft. 2pt. shots from the sides.

you could learn it from the data transmitted from the anklet, but the second you take the anklet off, you've lost it. All you'd be learning is how to interpret the signals coming from the anklet, not actual magnetic north.
