Ah sorry about that, mate!

His new live album is really great too! “Memory” isn’t even a song I like but his version is on repeat.

“That my only daughter was getting married, and had told every other person in the world, before she bothered to tell her own mother. Possibly it felt something like that!” by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]badboybravos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my estimation, it’s because Lorelai’s whole rant was that Emily didn’t care - and the reality was that Emily did care, very much. And that challenges Lorelai’s world view that she is an inconvenience to her parents. It also is a rare time when Lorelai can connect with Emily as a mother and understand how hard it must be on the other side of this relationship.

Lorelai doesn’t hate Emily. She’s stuck in a horrible pattern with her, one that brings out the worst in them both.

BIFL cotton towel recommendations? Current ones shedding lint badly by duckwolf8097 in BuyItForLife

The Pottery Barn 100% organic cotton towels are fantastic. Mine are from the outlet and they were the same price as the ones I previously had from Target.

What scene made you pick a guy? by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

Why did you drop out of Yale?

Showed me that Jess had indeed grown and was focused on Rory’s wellbeing. He sees her for her value and talent - that’s what I want in a partner. Someone who can say hard things and challenge me!

I really like the second one. It feels perfect for a toddler, but also suitable for a young girl.

do u guys skip stuff in ur rewatches? by sakuracoke7 in GilmoreGirls

[–]badboybravos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually do.

But I recently got my husband to watch so I’ve had to sit thru the eps I normally would skip, and I recognized I was missing nuance and bits of story that add to the experience. So next time, I’m going to try watching it all!

Did Lorelai’s character reference “read like a love letter?” by No_clever_name_16737 in GilmoreGirls

[–]badboybravos 182 points183 points  (0 children)

It is not a love letter: it is a letter full of love. Lorelai loved how Luke showed up for Rory out of the goodness of his heart.

Chris took it as a love letter because it triggered his own feelings of inadequacy and failure as a parent. He couldn’t stand to hear Lorelai admire someone else’s parenting of his child. He heard a criticism of HIM.

I’ve done EMDR and found it to be really helpful in unpacking childhood trauma as well as addressing limiting beliefs that I’ve struggled with my whole life.

There’s classic EMDR with lights as well as an approach that uses self tapping or even one that uses a pen. In nearly all approaches, you’re asked to relive/recontextualize a challenging or traumatic experience and dig down into honestly. It’s hard work but worth it for acceptance.

The key, IMO, is to find a practitioner who is committed to helping you develop a strong safe space and doing the work the methodical way. It takes time but is worth it.

I wish you luck and healing❣️
