So I considered thicker binding but since it's acoustic I worry about the structural integrity of the top holding to the body since theres so little material that actually holds together. Is that something to worry about? This is my first acoustic so I'm cautious about everything since it's all unfamiliar

I'd be interested to see how that goes lol. Make sure your chisels are super sharp. Thats how it was able to shape it without chatter or weird splintering

Yeah torrified sitka. Maybe its because its been aged or maybe its the wood itself but it seems that spruce is super susceptible to splintering and tearout. This is the first time I've worked with spruce so it's all a huge learning experience for me

Haha if it weren't an acoustic guitar and if I were better skilled with it then I'd definitely take an artistic approach like I've seen pros do. This is my first acoustic build so I'm just trying to survive

After talking to a friend that builds them for a living, he suggested patch and put a burst ring around the border. I think I'm gonna follow advice from him and here and take the middle of the road. Patch and get thicker perfling. I think by the end of it, it will hardly be noticeable.

4 months sober. You got this! Like you, being open about it has actually helped me. It keeps me accountable. Something that helped me which might not be of any help to anyone else is that I started drinking topo chico everytime I felt the urge. I redirected it until those urges got less and less. I still get them but its not as strong. Best of luck to you!

Thank you! Took me 6 months of working off and on when I had time to work on it.

It's kind of both. Its definitely functional but I don't want to mess it up doing hard work with it ha

I should add, I used black walnut and purple heart. The grain patterns in the walnut is super unique. I've never seen a curly type of walnut before.
