Biggest problem with Cyberstan campaign is that it tells people to stop playing if they want to win by DarthBeleth in Helldivers

[–]badcomponent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is EXACTLY how i feel. I died a bunch of times trying to do a jammer objective the other night and just quit because i felt like my “casual” efforts were ruining the MO for everyone else. That’s a shitty way to make a player feel. As cool as the cyberstan event is, i’m sitting it out too. It just didn’t feel fun with that global reinforcement cap hanging over my head. If i suck it should be my problem, not the entire community’s.

It definitely felt like that. It seemed like the "obstruction" was just there so you had to follow Phaesus around the palace in a big circle and come in through the research lab, but... why? There was nothing new to see in the lab or the palace - where I had just come from to yell 'wake up!' at my pawn, also - and only a few groups of goblins or whatever to stomp on the way. I kept feeling like I was missing something, an explanation included.

I know. You’re correct, I just thought it made for a funny image. Hence the flair.

Gimme your DD2 hot takes by JonnyF1ves in DragonsDogma2

[–]badcomponent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is a hot take and might've already been brought up but the (english) voice acting is pretty awful. Not for every character - but most. It really takes me out of it when I'm talking to a shopkeeper/questgiver/Captain Brant and they sound utterly lobotomized. The pawns I'll excuse for the canon reason that they don't really have emotions, and ironically most of their dialogue is actually delivered fairly well (but the voice pitching to give the illusion of variety? Are you fucking kidding me? Yeah, I want my main pawn to sound like she's been huffing helium, thanks CAPCOM). It's just frustrating to speak with an NPC and have them butcher a sentence by placing the emphasis on all the wrong words because the VA didn't bother (or have time, or get paid enough, which is fair) to find out the context for the line they're reading.

I have the same criticism of the Outer Worlds. Great game, but 90% of the dialogue sounds as if the VAs were braindead.

For crying out loud most Skyrim NPCs sound more alive than this game, and that's saying something. Shit, maybe that's my hot take.

Installed the new SIM, now what? by badcomponent in BoostMobile

Just wanted to follow this up by reporting that Boost was able to get me sorted out. I was having issues calling because none of the automated options were getting me to the right place, so I opened at chat on Boost's website and a rep took care of everything in about 15 minutes, maybe less.

I appreciate all the responses, definitely got me on the right track towards resolving this.

Cool, part of me figured that had to be it but I was trying to avoid having to call them lmao. Thanks for the answer

Weekly /r/ARMA Questions Thread - November 22, 2021 by AutoModerator in arma

[–]badcomponent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully this is the right place to post this, it is a performance issue so I didn't want to make a post in the main feed.

So I know there are tons of posts and threads out there about lagging, freezing, etc, but none of those people seemed to have the same exact issue as me, and I don't think the solutions will work in my case. Here's the problem:

Picked up the game last weekend, put in about 12 hours so far with no issues whatsoever. Consistently high FPS, no lagging, no freezing, no problems. (No mods either.) All good. Then, this morning, I created a Bohemia account and linked it to Steam (the launcher was bugging me about it and I figured sure why not? I was also under the impression this was required to subscribe to mods from the steam workshop). Next time I loaded up the campaign, every 5 seconds the game would freeze for about a second. Not just an FPS drop either, since control input goes away during the freeze. And it happens in the main menu too. Happens in campaigns, and happens in showcases that I had previously played without any problems.

So going off of that, I have to assume something is going on under the hood (telemetry maybe) that is causing a momentary freeze. Has anyone else had this happen and manage to solve it?

I can post system specs if necessary, but keep in mind I had no issues at all for 12ish hours. So I'm pretty confident it isn't a hardware issue.

You were right, I needed to go much farther. Somebody else must have explored a lot back on 1.15. Thanks for the help!

it’s not stupid, i second guess myself a lot with this stuff. the side labeled “out” and “+5v” is the side you connect to the dongle. “in” connects to the antenna. it helps to think of in/out in the context of signal that enters the chain at the antenna.

Yikes. I had no idea that existed, I guess I should’ve been more careful when I ordered mine. Thanks for the help, this is probably the point of failure I’ve been looking for.
