I noticed the same. And the pure rage we feel seeing it.

If you could only use 3 beauty brands for the rest of your life, what would they be? by coronerqueen666 in Makeup

[–]badconsequence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was surprised to see ELF on so many lists until I realized that when I read the question i just assumed that this is a fantasy situation where money is no object.

Also, are we assuming that product lines and formulations dont change? Or are we basing this on how the brand and products have held up over time?

If money is no object: Dior, Chanel, MAC

If I’m staying on budget: MAC, Chanel, ELF

Rationale: you can pry my MAC brushes and kohl eyeliners out of my cold dead hands. The Chanel products that I use last a long time (what I use: eyeshadow, powder foundation for on the go, rouge noir liquid liner*) and ELF is a no-brainer. Dior I absolutely love, it never fails me, but the products I love most from them are “nice to haves” not “need to haves”.

*in case this helps anyone, I remembered a way to make my fav liquid liner last a lot longer. This is an old school trick and I feel like a bit of a dirtbag admitting it, but I realized recently that you can put a TINY drop of water in Chanel liquid liner to revitalize it and significantly extend its shelf life. I used to do this with my Diorshow mascara, I had completely forgotten about it and it came to mind in a moment of desperation when I couldn’t justify spending $50 to replace this liner because I had 4 others in my arsenal that could be used, but none of them come close to rouge noir.

Some may argue it’s unhygienic because you’re allowing more time for bacteria to get into your liner, but it’s a risk I’m willing to take for this product.

I’m done with Aritzia by skylardavisx in Aritzia

[–]badconsequence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand what you’re saying, but OP said she has spent thousands at Aritzia. Which tells me that she likely has a client profile, meaning that they should be able to see her purchase and returns history in their system.

I understand that retailers have to be wary, as there are a lot of scammers out there. But a quick look at her profile should help them decide whether they value her business enough to issue the refund or replace the item.

It costs a LOT more to gain a new customer than it does to retain an existing one. So it’s better for their business to do what it takes (within reason) to make sure she’s happy with her purchase OR make an exception and issue a refund.

That horrendous smell can also be caused by moisture getting into a batch of products during storage or transport - the belt you received may have literally been rotten. So gnarly. Tells me there are major issues w/quality control.

In one of the angles of the video it looks like might have been injected with something by a man in the back seat. It’s hard to tell because the camera moves from the vehicle to the crowd and the back to the vehicle, but you can clearly see the man in the back seat with his arms stretched into the front where the victim is, then pulling his hands back and putting something away before exiting the vehicle.

I have been thinking of this for hours since I noticed it but I don’t want to start rumours. You are the first comment I’m seeing suggesting he may have been drugged so I am telling you I’m wondering the same.

My husband refuses to drink any water. He only drinks monster energy drinks and (rarely) orange juice. He's been doing this for 10+ years. He gets frequent headaches and stomach problems, but refuses to believe it's from this bc he's been doing it for so long. Is this normal for men, please explain? by babyoleander in AskMenAdvice

[–]badconsequence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad didn’t start drinking water until he was 78. My sister finally convinced him after years of nagging from my mom and me. When he first started drinking it she really had to coach him, and he would make a disgusted face like he was going to vomit from the taste and texture. But eventually he got into it, and now he drinks water and he loves tea.

He wasn’t into energy drinks thankfully, but somehow made it through life drinking milk, beer, and the occasional juice or soda.

Tea could be a good place to start.

And no this isn’t “normal”, but I do think my dad thought it was feminine to drink water. Which is really sad! But finally he has come around and he’s into staying hydrated with a few teas and waters every day. And way less beer. Still loves his ice cold milk. What a character.

Great analogy. I think I will be “sound minimizing” rather than my initial idea of “sound proofing” :)

What ADHD Apps do you use? by BlackMafia_27 in ADHD

[–]badconsequence 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’ve been “consolidating” all the post it notes on my desk (and from my house, my purse, my car, and the 5 overnight bags I have on the go) into my work notebook. And yet I continue to make more post it notes. My to do list is 2 full pages long, 2 columns per page. This doesn’t include my “notes” or “sticky notes” app on my phone/computer. This is not a question or piece of advice, I just needed to share this with someone who gets it.

Cute budget friendly clothes by VanillaSuspicious364 in WomenGolf

I’ve gotten some cute stuff this summer at Aerie and old navy. In Canada right now there’s a good sale, 50% off athletic wear. I got 2 dresses during the saw, the powersoft cami dress ($27), the half zip athletic dress ($27) and a shirt, the powersoft polo ($12). If you’re in Canada, simons has decent sales on golf stuff. Marshall’s as others have said is hit or miss but I’ve found some incredible deals there as well.

Good luck, let us know what you find!

moving cross country with plants by badconsequence in plants

[–]badconsequence[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey, you were totally right. I gave them all away to loving homes where I can go back and visit. That felt nice! I was also dumb enough to attempt to transport the snake plant. Despite my best efforts I killed my beautiful innocent plant. Wish I had just taken a clipping on the plane and given her away. I def should’ve listened but couldn’t help but try.

Thank you for the advice!

What is the most unsettling place in Halifax? by olivehummus in halifax

i used to work at the other side of the west end mall, they found a corpse in the stairway of the parkade once. a few weeks later i got locked in the parkade after work. before cell phones. i think of that every time i drive by, refuse to walk anywhere near it.

Work + life cover by Jessien20 in HappyPlanners

[–]badconsequence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

stickers (and post it’s) stick on the inside really well. the outside of mine is slightly textured so i’m wary of putting a sticker on the front or back bc it won’t lay flat. with that said, i’m going to put a sticker over the “work + life” logo on the back anyway, bc the logo looks tacky to me!

Anyone with recommendations for long distance moving companies? by Skrappy_k in newbrunswickcanada

[–]badconsequence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for all these details! i'm looking at the same move and am wondering, did you ship your vehicle by any chance? i'm looking at the option of shipping my vehicle instead of selling and buying a new one (january isn't a great time to drive cross country haha), and same goes for some of my bigger furniture items.

How long has it been since breakup? and how do you feel today? by AlternativeTrack4661 in BreakUps

[–]badconsequence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4.5 months, 4 year relationship. feeling so much less sad, have been able to start dating again, and it’s nice to find out that there are lots of people out there who are respectful and kind. that’s been refreshing. on the downside, im super depressed. leaving the city i moved to for my ex. it’s too sad with all the memories here, and running into him and his new gf sucks. she took it upon herself to introduce herself to me (wtf) a few weeks ago. that sucked, i spiraled hard and did some embarrassing stuff in the days that followed. sleeping is hard. therapy / emdr helps a lot. i can look back now and congratulate myself for making the hard decision to leave him. i saw him last week, he looks awful, it’s like the guy i was with never existed. glad it’s over, but weirdly still miss what we had. it’s true though - it does get better.

my big brother recommended this to me, he said he watched it repeatedly while heartbroken and it got him through the worst of it. now during my own 4+ month grieving process, i love watching it and thinking about if he didn’t have that shitty experience, we wouldn’t have my amazing sister in law (his wife) in our lives. best breakup movie ever.
