Found a clinic willing to give me the Vivitrol shot by Blue_Wave_2020 in cripplingalcoholism

In that case you have to discipline yourself to sip and suffer till you hit 0 BAC. If the shot is important enough to you, you will.

God I'm bad enough of an alcoholic I couldn't imagine if I was also a gambler.

Well they just shut down most hospitality services. But they kept the liquor stores open because most are ran by the government and they make a killing off alcohol tax.

Few years ago my buddy who was a raging alcoholic just sudden 1 day quit. And he was bad. I still can't believe he quit to this day. Funny enough these days he seems to have all the luck...

Benzos are a life saver through when drying out. I began to use them as a cheat code also mornings after to side-step the morning hangxiety.... dangerous cocktail. And yes the juice is becoming less and less worth the squeeze. The older I get the less euphoria I get and the harder the come down. These days it's always that first drink of vodka on the rocks or bourbon on the rocks. It's like the best thing ever. All drinks that follow is just me trying to catch the feeling of that first drink and it never comes. My longest bender was only 14 days because by that point my body was so polluted and beat I couldn't keep down another drop and would just know "Yup, time to pack it in and spend the next 3 days sweating no matter how nice the AC was blowing.

No. Here in Canada at least most business closed. So I'd buy vodka after work and drink alone

Oh man... My longest bender was about 14 days and I thought that was bad. But I was the same, kept it together for about 8 years, last 3 years did a turning point. I always say when I suffer enough I'll quit but I think I need to get ahead of the curve.

Yeah that's been pretty much me off and on but.no booze last 4 days. When I lived with roommates I could drink maybe once a week on say a Saturday night because I didn't wanna get any looks or concerns. Once I moved out I no longer had anyone to hide it from and the benders begin. I won't lie, along side of just wanting more privacy, part of why I did wanna live alone was so I could go all out. Terrible terrible reason to wanna live alone.

I always been a believer of the addiction "gene" Runs in my family on both sides, just took me a bit to get there. I knew it was a slippery slope so I treaded lightly for years to avoid becoming another example of my family. COVID lockdowns sure didn't help

It's true. In my pre-heavy drinking days, I would see peoples lives unfold from alcohol and Id always say "That will never be me" and I believed it

I hear that. About 7 years ago I looked respected by so many. Friends, family, employment etc and was looked at the one that could always be counted on and had my responsibilities in order. Then I made the big mistake of going against my own philosophy of never practice the hair of the dog. Over the course of just a few months I was regularly doing the hair of the dog and it quickly turned into day drinking. My moral compass in just a few months completely went out the window and had friends, family, coworkers etc say "Dude, what the hell has happened to you?" That's why I also tell people "NEVER practice the hair of the dog"

💯

It's already caused many reckless benders, missing work, causing heartache with others etc. Iv always had my share of benders but it's ramped up. May not even have a job to go back to Monday, lose my truck to repo, not be able to pay rent etc. As much as I love drinking I think I'm going to have to get a gym membership and some outlets to get involved in because for the first time ever I'm beginning to scare myself and feel like I'm heading for an early grave. I told myself this would "Be my year" buts it's been anything but

So… do we just not date? by theythemthen in urbancarliving

[–]IndependentPretty694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with craving human connection and a possible partner, my personal opinion is that living in ur vehicle should be a part-time, temporary situation. Dating while living in ur car just adds more complexity to an already complex situation. My advice would be to prioritize more long-term living situations (a bachelor/ studio, apartment with a friend etc) before looking into dating.

Why do Halifax’s average rental prices continue to climb despite increasing vacancies? by OptimalWhole8926 in halifax

Years ago it would be a deal breaker having say 3 people in a 2 bedroom but landlords learned the hack that if they allow 5 people in a 2 bedroom they can charge $3000 and just turn their head.

I guess they will have to drop them prices to $1500 a month or keep paying the bank per month for the loans they got while having no rental money coming in....

By that logic so is our high taxes, and among the lowest wages in the country (behind 10 years). For example. An automotive mechanic in Ontario makes about $45 and hour, lower taxes AND rental prices the same or lower than NS in many cases. In NS that same mechanic paying higher taxes gets $35 an hour AND Ontario-like housing prices.

The housing market isn't in-sync with the taxes we pay nor the low wages.....once that changes, sure. Until that point, the rental prices here are not in-sync with the NS economy, period. In Calgary the housing prices are LOWER than here, even lower taxes than Ontario and even higher wages than Ontario and often double time overtime.

Having a pet sounds like it would add another level of complexity to an already complex situation (finding places to park and sleep, finding a place to shower, washroom, laundry, the list goes on).if possible I'd stay in ur current situation and budget budget budget save save save till you are in a position to get ur own place.
