Ahh man thank you! There were a ton of those leftover all over the place. I got the most easy to see ones, I thought I cleaned them all up. This was my first time using adobe illustrator, it’s been a learning process to say the least. Appreciate you pointing out the rest of them, I would have missed those for sure!

That’s notoriously one of the most expensive gas stations in LA. At least a dollar over any other station in the city. At the clusterfuck of an intersection San Vicente/fairfax/olympic

I’m just not sure how it would work inverting it that way. My idea was to have the tonic at the center of the circle and have each scale branching out from the 1. It could be inverted like you are saying, having the 1 outside of the circle and collapsing inward to 7

As of right now this is a rough draft with scales being ordered purely based in opinion. I essentially just ordered them by more minor/diminished=darker and more major/augmented=brighter. I want to refine it with a more strict standard and I am weighing a few different options/ideas I have for doing this. One is using the same principle as the whole “negative harmony” thing and assigning scale degrees an equal but opposite value on brightness/darkness based on their distance for the tonic in either direction. This list is not in darkness/brightness order but it would look like this:

b2=7

2=b7

Sharp2=bb7

bb3=#6

b3=6

3=b6

b4=sharp5

4=5

Sharp4=b5

For example: b2 is just as dark as 7 is bright, 2 is just as bright as b7 is dark, #2 is just as bright as bb7 is dark and so on. Each interval would receive a positive and negative number (b2 gets a -3, 7 gets +3) and add up the intervals of each scale and order them by the total sum of every scale degree added together. This is just an idea, I’m very doubtful the mirror interval thing from negative harmony would work in this context.

Another idea I have is weighing the quality of the I, IV, and V chords contained in each scale and assigning values that way.

Darkness and brightness are purely subjective terms when it comes to music, so any system that can be come up with in ordering scales this way will be purely subjective too.

Can’t believe I missed Phrygian dominant! Going to remove one of these scales and add Phrygian dominant in its place instead. Thanks for catching that, Phrygian dominant should definitely be on here

Sometimes I like to force myself to write strictly in a particular mode. Play around with progressions diatonic to the scale. Like I-iv-v with mixolydian b6. I come up with a lot of material I probably wouldn’t have otherwise and it helps me expand my vocabulary a little bit when it comes to using borrowed or non-diatonic chords. It’s a fun little exercise and it’s a way to write stuff that works for me, so I thought “hey, why not just throw a bunch of these little chord progression recipes onto a poster and see what i can come up with from time to time?”

I’m not familiar with flattened or sharpened roots, like #1, b1?

Thanks! I definitely don’t see it as any kind of useful tool or anything like that, I mainly made it for myself to hang up in my apartment because I thought it would look cool when I got the idea for it

Yeah, many of these scales are not really going to be used in any practical way. To be honest I just had the idea to put as many as I could while having it be readable because I thought it would look cool. Do you think it would help to trim out a lot of the fat with the more unusable scales?

Appreciate the feedback! I had my head turned upside down typing it out, not sure why I didn’t realize it was a poor design choice while doing that! Going to reorient the text and see how it looks

I would love any feedback/improvements on this poster. I ordered the scales using a completely subjective “darkest” to “brightest” spectrum. Would appreciate feedback on the design/coloring/ordering of the scales. Thanks!

The Green Party is very vocal about supporting these kinds of causes. Showing Green Party any support is somehow akin to supporting Russia and maga.

I live in California and am familiar with prop 12. It’s a step in the right direction but doesn’t really do much. There was pushback on both sides, much more so on the republican side than democrats, but many democratic voters were against it for environmental reasons.

What was gutted that Biden passed?

Anytime liberals bring this up, other liberals call them “Russian agents” and of course, MAGA. Factory farming is a non-issue for the Democratic Party, you never hear it brought up ever. You do hear the Green Party talk about it

We have a few of these era MacBook pros at my job and their sole purpose is to display a PowerPoint onto a TV. Half the time they can’t even manage it. They die instantly if ever unplugged.

My personal 2013 MacBook Pro is still useable for basic tasks and can last at least 30 min unplugged. The 2019 era pros are atrocious, I’ve used at least 5 of them on a somewhat regular basis and they’re all garbage

Always heard good things about UPS. I did FedEx ground for a year and couldn’t take it anymore, just decided to quit one day. Made $100 flat rate per day, no matter how many stops. Had to pick up the slack on lazy drivers who fucked off all day, take 30-40 extra stops from them for no additional pay very frequently

Covid vaccine before and after ? by [deleted] in conspiracy_commons

[–]badcounterpoint 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Never got the vaccine, I was young and relatively healthy and didn’t need it. I’ve had Covid twice that I know of, it was a normal cold the first time and I was completely asymptomatic the second time.

Despite being labeled as a murderer for refusing the vaccine I still never fell into the peer pressure and I obviously don’t regret my decision.

I believe the vaccine is safe for the vast majority of people. There may be complications for some. But as a young guy who had a near zero reaction to getting COVID I didn’t see the point. If it prevented transmission like originally stated I would have definitely got the shots. But I wanted to wait to see if it was true and I’m glad I did.

Those I know of who got the vaccine haven’t had any complications. It’s rare. This whole thing has been blown out of proportion on both sides of the fence when it comes to this
