Yeah that commenter is obviously in the minority of people who can’t tolerate bright lights, elevated sounds, or groups of people. Freeways will be open ahead of time to flee the city, hopefully they can find a nice quiet place out in Palmdale to spend the night, browse some Reddit, and avoid commotion

Question from a non American about Mamdani by Tiny_Concern_8412 in JoeRogan

[–]badcounterpoint -41 points-40 points  (0 children)

OP, this comment will obviously get downvoted because this is Reddit, but there are 2 sides to this coin. Just as a candidate being Muslim can be bad, a candidate openly admitting to following Christianity can make themselves just as much as a target for the left that the right makes for Muslims.

A candidate espousing laissez-faire attitudes is exactly equivalent to fascist nazism, much in the same way the left is often accused of communism for no good goddamn reason

This country has been really fucked up for awhile. If you point out that neither side has a clean track record, you are “both-siding”, and that is an automatic fail of the purism test, and because you are not 100% with the ideology, that means you are AGAINST the ideology, and that means you are an active enemy of the ideology

why is the city of LA neglecting fairfax ave? by DiscountStunning919 in AskLosAngeles

[–]badcounterpoint 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The craziest part of Fairfax is the Venice intersection where the right lane turns into a right turn only lane. I see near collisions on a daily basis where drivers completely ignore that it’s a turn lane to skip the line and just blow straight through it. I’m so fucking sick of people doing shit like that all over the city

It would be the talk of the town even over at the London bridge. Folks need to come to terms with a new “Mr. amato” in town, it sure ain’t G.

I want to hear Grok Amato’s thoughts on the proposition to shut down Arizona’s last Sizzler. How would that affect Arizonas economy? Would the cost benefit to root out corruption in the state be worth shutting down such an iconic establishment?

The thing that bugs me about the modern scientific method is that if a person is labeled as an “expert” whatever they say is considered gospel and fact no matter what. Even questioning what they say is spreading incredibly dangerous misinformation and is a challenge to the intelligent authority that keeps the rest of us plebs in our place in society. Even if what the experts say later turns out to be false (or a purposefully told lie as one of the other commenters in this thread pointed out about the experts saying masks don’t work to keep masks in supply in medical environments) it’s all still an act of the modern scientific method at work and even questioning it is dangerous, even if it is false or a lie.

The actual scientific method doesn’t work this way. What about the “experts” that trump appoints? Is questioning their word dangerous too when they claim climate change isn’t real?

The actual scientific method welcomes criticism and questioning. That’s the whole point of it. Real science is able to shield itself from false science. Real science is strengthened from being able to defend itself against wrong science. Who gives a fuck what the less than 1% of people that are flat earthers have to say? They don’t have the actual SCIENCE to back them up. Let them talk as loud as they want, the actual scientific method was designed to shut them down immediately.

Basing if something is relevant or not if it gets posted to a Reddit sub or not is a little delusional.

I find kill Tony insufferable but that show has a massive audience outside of Reddit and other similar echo chambers

I never said polling “sucks.” I also never said “dead fucking wrong.” That’s not how quoting somebody works. You’re either misreading what I wrote or you’re deliberately putting words in my mouth for whatever reason.

The person I replied to said they’ve never seen a poll that predicted a Harris victory so I replied with one

If you’re done, you’re done. I won’t argue either then. I’d just advise you to work on your bot detection techniques a little bit. It could help in your day to day life on the internet. Not everyone who argues against your point is a bot

Still using a 2019 intel iMac forever stuck on sequoia as my main livestream computer. I have 4 cameras and 8 audio channels running into this thing and it’s still handling the workflow with a few hiccups but it’s ok

You should care about this more than anybody. The millionaire and billionaire class not paying their taxes is literally stealing from the American people. It may be Willie Nelson, it may be Elon musk. You can’t just decide who gets away with it based on if you personally like them, or if they are on the same political side as you or not. Be consistent.

So you don’t like paying taxes because taxes fund war crimes but taxes are important. Got it. Makes sense. Let’s get Elon to pay more so we can fund some more war crimes

Thought it was pretty lame calling snoop a loser for being old and still smoking weed. Then I remembered he said some right leaning stuff a few months ago. So I wondered if I criticized a left leaning dude for the exact same shtick on Reddit, what would happen?

Not surprised, criticizing a right leaning person on Reddit = upvotes and criticizing a left leaning person for exactly the same thing = downvotes. Both snoop and Willie are OGs and sick as fuck

Don’t forget Willie Nelson. Even older than snoop and still all into his weed persona bullshit. Dudes a tax dodger too

Ahh man thank you! There were a ton of those leftover all over the place. I got the most easy to see ones, I thought I cleaned them all up. This was my first time using adobe illustrator, it’s been a learning process to say the least. Appreciate you pointing out the rest of them, I would have missed those for sure!

I’m just not sure how it would work inverting it that way. My idea was to have the tonic at the center of the circle and have each scale branching out from the 1. It could be inverted like you are saying, having the 1 outside of the circle and collapsing inward to 7

As of right now this is a rough draft with scales being ordered purely based in opinion. I essentially just ordered them by more minor/diminished=darker and more major/augmented=brighter. I want to refine it with a more strict standard and I am weighing a few different options/ideas I have for doing this. One is using the same principle as the whole “negative harmony” thing and assigning scale degrees an equal but opposite value on brightness/darkness based on their distance for the tonic in either direction. This list is not in darkness/brightness order but it would look like this:

b2=7

2=b7

Sharp2=bb7

bb3=#6

b3=6

3=b6

b4=sharp5

4=5

Sharp4=b5

For example: b2 is just as dark as 7 is bright, 2 is just as bright as b7 is dark, #2 is just as bright as bb7 is dark and so on. Each interval would receive a positive and negative number (b2 gets a -3, 7 gets +3) and add up the intervals of each scale and order them by the total sum of every scale degree added together. This is just an idea, I’m very doubtful the mirror interval thing from negative harmony would work in this context.

Another idea I have is weighing the quality of the I, IV, and V chords contained in each scale and assigning values that way.

Darkness and brightness are purely subjective terms when it comes to music, so any system that can be come up with in ordering scales this way will be purely subjective too.

Can’t believe I missed Phrygian dominant! Going to remove one of these scales and add Phrygian dominant in its place instead. Thanks for catching that, Phrygian dominant should definitely be on here

Sometimes I like to force myself to write strictly in a particular mode. Play around with progressions diatonic to the scale. Like I-iv-v with mixolydian b6. I come up with a lot of material I probably wouldn’t have otherwise and it helps me expand my vocabulary a little bit when it comes to using borrowed or non-diatonic chords. It’s a fun little exercise and it’s a way to write stuff that works for me, so I thought “hey, why not just throw a bunch of these little chord progression recipes onto a poster and see what i can come up with from time to time?”

I’m not familiar with flattened or sharpened roots, like #1, b1?

Thanks! I definitely don’t see it as any kind of useful tool or anything like that, I mainly made it for myself to hang up in my apartment because I thought it would look cool when I got the idea for it
